kepstin: in deferencem you were right about .opus working in ff, so there's that :)
I guess that.. well, if I was on a linux system, with a linux musicplayer I might *use* oggvorbis or opus as my go-to audio encoded file type
thing is, I'm not
I'm on a ppc, macbook air, win 7, android phone, sandisk clip, nintendo 3ds system - so I basically need something that works on (__o__) (<--big arms emoticon dude) eeevery thing
and well. mp3 does that :/
it's default for every system bascially. and while many other fletypes probably als oworks on thme, there is no guessing
I guess I also have this "Meh, use any other type of filetype because omg mp3 is propireatry and bad and takes op more space and yadayada" averion, even though there might be true that other type is better and would take up less space
and be less lossier thna it
if I got mp3 i *know* it works, even if it's... not optium?
I mean I get the thing. its lame ot stick to an inferior thing just because it's basically defualt

Tecfan_ is now known as Tecfan
Tecfan

Hiya... I just installed the server to my esxi box but was wondering, do I need to upgrade the server manually? If so is there a recent guide?
reosarevok
Tecfan: video recordings should be separate from audio ones (but official videos can be linked with the "music video" relationship to the "normal" recording)
Tecfan
o.0
is there a video documentation somewhere?
jesus2099
Tecfan: 2 vedio recordings with the same audio track are different if their visual track is different
there’s not much more to know about it
Tecfan
but we can add videos to mb now?
this is new to me that is all =)
jesus2099
it was made to avoid merging a concert CD recordings with its DVD counterpart recordings
Tecfan
ok
jesus2099
I’m editing concert video from longer than the video recordings exist. we used to have to add a comment, before.
this checkbox is really handy
Tecfan: you are a bassist, right ?
Tecfan
yeah
jesus2099
i remember you. you don’t come here often, lately
Tecfan
good memory!:)
jesus2099
oh, you were very active at some point
in MB
Tecfan
i remember you used to be big in the userscript business :)
yeah i had a job where i literally just sat in front of a computer waiting for calls so i had lots of time to add releases, heh.
jesus2099
ha ha :D
Tecfan
mb has become more user friendly since those times
the only userscript i miss is the discogs import one
reosarevok
That still works, no? I haven't tried it in a bit, but there should be a working version somewhere I think
Tecfan, a recording can be related to more than one work (if I understand your question).
Tecfan
aa, of course

CatCat: many sansa clip variants can also run rockbox, which gives you opus, flac, etc. codec support :)
but yeah, a lot of mp3 player firmware (excluding aplle and ms products) includes ogg vorbis support, simply because the codec was royalty-free and it was good for testing.
my old iriver player had some issues with unicode id3 tags in mp3, but could show them in ogg vorbis. that was kind of funny.

Heh. iRiver is another product line thing I once had, also because it supported Ogg Vorbis natively. :)

btw freso, did you get on that reggae gold and check the disc 2?
jesus2099: I've made some change to you "inline stuff" script https://pastee.org/pwneb I was also wondering if it was possible to get the option to not automatically show acoustids, but instead have a slow load button or something (same as the "edit recording comments" userscript that also excists)
