link in sidebar works for me at artist and release level

selecting two checkboxes and clicking merge rg button also takes me to merge ui

no, if i select one rg from artist page and click merge rg button, i stay on artist page, with the single rg listed at the bottom as available for merge

About that release I linked; I don't know if it's sanctioned or not, or if the cover art is fan-made

The edit note the editor used had me scared. Bootleg collectors tend to be extremely cagy.

the release is a bootleg, and tagged as such, so is fine. not sure about the coverart, no way to tell if it's by the bootlegger or some random person afterwards

Whenever someone adds a bootleg digital release, I automatically get suspicious because I have seen people add fan-compiled torrents as releases (and we normally don't allow those)

if there are two releases that are identical but on different record companies, how should the be entered? and is possible to duplicate an existing release to make it easier to make such a small change?

hopphopp, those would be two releases in the same release group.

when adding the second release to the rg, you can use the "release duplicates" tab to copy the tracklist and associated recordings.

I *think* that there's also a userscript that helps you do this. maybe somebody else has a link.

As long as “identical” means “very similar, almost identical except for the mention of the record companies” and not really identical.
