ok so do you know how to add 2 discs to the same release?
2017-05-04 12436, 2017
omar_
I don't yet!
2017-05-04 12404, 2017
MajorLurker
Ok no problems, do you know how to enter one disc?
2017-05-04 12400, 2017
omar_
Yeah, that's super simple.
2017-05-04 12451, 2017
MajorLurker
Ok so when you enter one release, and you are on the track section, there is an option to add another album (at the bottom)
2017-05-04 12406, 2017
MajorLurker
Click on that then you can add the details of the other disc
2017-05-04 12432, 2017
MajorLurker
(It might say Add another disc or something can remember)
2017-05-04 12442, 2017
MajorLurker
can´t
2017-05-04 12434, 2017
omar_
"Add medium", yeah.
2017-05-04 12443, 2017
omar_
Oh, and then I get to enter disc titles, cool.
2017-05-04 12458, 2017
MajorLurker
That´s it ... you got it now?
2017-05-04 12423, 2017
MajorLurker
If the 2nd disc exists already you can import the details
2017-05-04 12427, 2017
MajorLurker
from MB
2017-05-04 12411, 2017

Yeah, I got it!

omar_
Thanks for the help!
2017-05-04 12442, 2017

Awesome, no worries. Ask if you get stuck, usually somebody here.

MajorLurker
It takes a while to get your head around it all
2017-05-04 12442, 2017
omar_
Oh yeah, I actually have one more question right away.
2017-05-04 12452, 2017
omar_
Is there a policy on full-width characters?
2017-05-04 12454, 2017
MajorLurker has been doing it for 4 years and still does not get it all
2017-05-04 12414, 2017
MajorLurker
umm not sure what you mean by that?
2017-05-04 12444, 2017
omar_
Like this.
2017-05-04 12447, 2017
omar_
Usually I'd imagine it's just an oversight by the person entering the tracklist, as I think some Japanese input methods for instance default to fullwidth.
2017-05-04 12401, 2017
MajorLurker
I would say (without being an authority), if that is how it appears on the release (and it seems to be intentional rather than just fancy formatting of the designer) then do it that wya
2017-05-04 12438, 2017
MajorLurker
Japanese releases are a whole other kettle of fish, pretty much as it appears I think is how they do it
2017-05-04 12457, 2017
MajorLurker
hibiscuskazeneko, will be able to help with that
2017-05-04 12400, 2017
omar_
Yeah, they can give me some real headaches sometimes.
2017-05-04 12427, 2017
MajorLurker
I take one look at a Japanese release and run away
2017-05-04 12421, 2017
MajorLurker
Point is, it does not really matter. Enter how you think it should be and if somebody thinks that is not right they can fix it.
2017-05-04 12431, 2017
omar_
And I still feel kinda iffy about changing all their funky remix tags to just (remix).
2017-05-04 12449, 2017
omar_
They tend to like -remix- or ~remix~ or god knows what.
2017-05-04 12416, 2017
hibiscuskazeneko
MajorLurker: Sorry, I haven't been paying attention. What is it you all need?
2017-05-04 12423, 2017
MajorLurker
Not sure that we do actually change them for Japanese releases
2017-05-04 12438, 2017
hibiscuskazeneko
nvm, I see now

omar_: What kind of fullwidth characters are you talking about?
2017-05-04 12411, 2017

Can you give an example?

Generally with Japanese, the rule is "follow what's on the cover"
2017-05-04 12410, 2017
hibiscuskazeneko
I wouldn't use fullwidth letters, if that's all you're referring to
For tracks 4 and 6, I'd use regular ASCII letters in lieu of fullwidth
2017-05-04 12419, 2017
MajorLurker
I would think that was right too, but hibiscuskazeneko is much better with that than me!
2017-05-04 12438, 2017
omar_
The thing is, right now it's A.N.A in MB.
2017-05-04 12449, 2017
omar_
And I wanted to at least get the punctuation right.
2017-05-04 12409, 2017
hibiscuskazeneko
The character you need to use for that is ・
2017-05-04 12416, 2017
omar_
But combining that punctuation with regular letters turns out to look like ass.
2017-05-04 12440, 2017

2017-05-04 12448, 2017
omar_
So you think I should stick with regular letters plus Japanese punctuation?
2017-05-04 12458, 2017
hibiscuskazeneko
Yes. That's what I normally do.
2017-05-04 12413, 2017

Sometimes when you enter a tracklist into MB, it won't look as glossy as it does on the cover. There are a number of reasons for this (font variations, use of images as characters, etc.)
2017-05-04 12448, 2017
MajorLurker
Thanks for popping up, hibiscuskazeneko :)

One egregious example I can think of was a release (whose name I can no longer remember) with a track whose title contained a treble clef. For those who don't know, the Unicode treble clef character is not centered. The end result ended up looking garbled.
2017-05-04 12438, 2017

On a lot of older releases (circa '80s-early '90s) exclamation points will be slanted to the right, so I often am left guessing as to whether to use ASCII or fullwidth exclamation points.
2017-05-04 12431, 2017
omar_
Yeah, don't get me started on my frustration with exclamation points...
