Fix in what sense? Opera I tend to not fuss about...
SothoTalKer
it's not an opera :p
split the second medium in its proper own release :p

If it does not belong there? I would just make a new release / copy the wrong medium over to that (add disc - existing disc). Then delete the second medium from the one you pointed me to.
As long as you are positive that it is 2 separate releases

I use MediaMonkey to rip CD's. The problem with that (well not really a problem most of the time), is that it uses freeDB data to populate.
With every new schema the freeDB thingy (whatever the technical term is) breaks.
So I enter data to MB but MediaMonkey cannot see it.
With the absence of Chirlu (who usually fixes it), I don't know how long I will have to wait.
So.... does anybody know of a great ripper that takes the data direct from MB (is that even possible?)
Lartza: I just setup a music-brainz mirror server, which is awesome btw
Lartza
Eh, debatable :P
You either spend a long time setting it up, use stupid docker or use even stupider docker inside a VM, and it doesn't even let you configure sensible stuff like HTTPS easily and doesn't work at all
So yeah
wendle
what does the search-server (java) give you over and above the musicbrainz-server?
Lartza
But each to their own :P
Uhh it gives you search?
But, the mirror uses a search server already you don't need your own
Lartza: so request goes from client app -> musicbrainz mirror -> musicbrainz.org search server?
Lartza
Not sure
D4RK-PH0ENiX joined the channel
Probably
CallerNo6
searches go to MB's servers, yes (unless/until you install a local search server). lookups and browse requests use your local install.

CallerNo6: thanks, makes sense.
so I built and deployed the search-server and am now building indexes. but how do I configure the musicbrainz mirror to use the local tomcat servlet?

CallerNo6
That I don't know. Try asking in #metabrainz, where you're more likely to get the attention of one of the devs (although with time zones you may need to wait a bit for a reply)
CallerNo6: thanks! should have read the doc properly, eyes skipped over "rate limiting"

i wonder why flac downloads are more expensive than mp3 :D
hibiscuskazeneko
SothoTalKer: They're probably more expensive because they're much larger files.
At least that's the most logical reason.
SothoTalKer
about twice the size compared to that mp3 :D

because oh-so-expensive bandwidth

or more likely because hi-fi people are more likely to accept higher prices in exchange for better quality
(see: all that hi-fi equipment out there)
Major_Lurker
The difference in quality is definitely noticable
Yaniel
sometimes, yes
and then there's the issue of generational loss
which makes it even more noticeable
Major_Lurker
If I listen to mp3 on my stereo, and then the flac I can hear the difference.... more musical information
Don't matter on the things you stick in your ear

anyone making unsupported statements is.. making unsupported statements. I can hear artifacts in 128k mp3 sometimes, but high bitrate mp3, never heard anything I thought was identifiably a mp3 artifact.
