Major_Lurker: there is Max https://github.com/sbooth/Max but it's old and outdated. it works with releases with 1 disc, but anything more discs and it's really messed
:/
(wich is a shame becaue it's a rather nice program)
the even more easy way is to tell someone to add it to MB :D
cyberspectre
So the guy who makes this album is an independent who just sells it on his website. I don't know if it's part of any existing repository
I see a 'submit' button. Can I create the album in the MusicBrainz database myself?
darwin
you can manually create, but the case you are in is in an atypical one
which is why I mention using a userscript. it's almost always in at least one other database
cyberspectre
darwin, I see
Oh it looks like it is on Bandcamp.

I'm now a member of MB and I'm trying to import the album from Bandcamp but it says "you must enter a title and an artist for every track" even though those are filled in
SothoTalKer
the track artists need to be green

CallerNo6
cyberspectre, to expand on what SothoTalKer said: some fields (like "artist") are search fields, used to locate an existing artist in the database (as opposed to being free-text fields that you simply fill in). When you've chosen an artist, the field will turn green.
(same for label, release group)
If the correct artist(s), label(s) and/or release-group aren't already in MB, you'll have to add them.
(well, sorta. you can add a release without a label if you want. you can't, however, add a release without an artist and release-group)
CatQuest, SothoTalKer thanks for the above, I had found that link. I had forgotten I used Morituri before (old age and probably the last time the schema broke freeDB propagating)
SothoTalKer
heh
good morning :p
Major_Lurker
Using Whipper now... it's a fair bit slower than MediaMonkey....
hi!
and it seems to have a few bugs ... but hey at least I can get the pile of discs off my desk slowly
SothoTalKer
well, slower but more accurate
Major_Lurker
I use Windose mainly, but mucking around with linux helps keep the old grey matter ticking over
SothoTalKer
EAC
Major_Lurker
And I can't figure out how to get Whipper to rip to a network drive so I am having to copy and paste etc....
I am going to have a look at EAC as well
SothoTalKer
it's windows and not command line :p
Major_Lurker
Command line is a bit of fun though ;)
Especially when you get one letter wrong hahaha
SothoTalKer
=D
i just do a 2 step process
1 - rip
2 - tag
Major_Lurker
It grabs stuff from MB?
(just downloaded it and installing now)

Looks like I will have the same problem with EAC as MediaMonkey
