Hey guys. I'm really new to MusicBrainz so this might be a core concept I'm unaware of, but I oddly can't find a lot of releases / artists using the online web service. Is this a demo service limited somehow ?

Well I'm using this service called "Muspy" (muspy.com) to track new releases of a few artist I follow. They have an API and I thought I'd check it out, maybe prototype an iOS app for it. So I start looking into it, and it returns MB "MDID" for pretty much everything (Artists, Releases, ..) so I go check the MB API and I decide to do a few tests. I can get some releases, some artists, but most of the find I get a 404 us

GungaDin: keep in mind that this is a community-driven effort so it is very possible that simply nobody has bothered or been able to enter the data for those releases

but if the other service has the mbids..

Yes the 3rd party service has IDs

They match MB's IDs (format wise)

muratori also has mbids for any cd I read with it

And some of them work (ie: I can look them up via the API)

you're sure it's not jsut an uuid and not an mbid?

CatQuest: I did not write the service myself, so it could be serving me whatever it wants. However, the site says it's solely based on MB to work and the API returns "mdid" keys
