is there a known problem with the server at the moment? not sure whether it's temporarily overloaded or actually broken
yvanzo
yes, it’s temporarily broken
BCMM
thanks
i know it's probably impossible to estimate how long till it's fixed, so do you know how long it's been like this for?
yvanzo
that lasted for 17 minutes, should be back since 10 minutes already
BCMM
was just about to say; it's let me log in now
thanks
is it normal for track lengths on the liner notes to be 1-3 seconds shorter than the actual TOC lengths, for an album on CD?
kepstin
yes, cd mastering usually sticks a gap (2 seconds is typical) of silence between tracks, which is counted as part of the track length in the toc

whenever I made mix-cd's or whateer I always chose "not" to put two seconds in like that because it's a waste of time and annoying (also because pretty much every song already has/had built-in silence (and those that don't it's intentional (ie segue int otoher thing)))

yeah, when a cd is ripped, usually the extra added silence is included, attached to the end of the track

Hey! I'm new to MusicBrainz, and I'm coming from using beets. I have a large amount of Japanese albums that I would like to add to the database that are available on vgmdb. My Japanese is below average but I know enough to correct features/artists. Anyway, does anyone know if a VGMDB->MB script exists? I don't mind putting things in manually, it would just save a ton of time
chaban
warmsweater: AFAIK a VGMDB import script doesn't exist yet.
CatQuest
that would be sweet though

warmsweater: I've done a lot of editing of japanese releases; if you need help with something feel free to poke me about it.
