hey all, I tried picard again today and it's still not working, is it really just me?
outsidecontext
King_DuckZ: can you check what kind of error messages you get in Help > View Error/Debug log
King_DuckZ
outsidecontext: in the console I see "E: 10:27:06,257 /usr/lib/python3.7/site-packages/picard/album.error_append:278: SSL handshake failed" plus more stuff
and that window shows the same stuff, afaict
outsidecontext
looks like a SSL issue then. is your computers clock set correctly?
King_DuckZ
"The difference from Time.is was +0.006 seconds (±0.037 seconds)."
I haven't changed anything, no updates no nothing, it was working yesterday morning and then it stopped
King_DuckZ: that's strange indeed. works here for me. I see you yesterday already verified that you can access musicbrainz.org nornally. Let me check that log
King_DuckZ
yeah, even more, I just pasted the first address from my log in my browser and I see an xml page that looks correct to me
Freso
King_DuckZ: What OS are you on? Is everything up to date?
King_DuckZ
Freso: gentoo, no I haven't updated in a week or 2
Freso
It might be useful to increase the debug level to maybe see the exact SSL failure message.
outsidecontext
there is indeed a problem with the SSL cert chain on mb.org. ther intermediate certificate expired yesterday
Freso: if it's still useful for me to do it, how do I increase the debug level?
I have to switch off, I'll be back late
later

I'll check, I know this one expired, it caused problems already, but this one was unexpected

yup, fixed
sorry for the inconvenience, but this time not really our fault
I'll have few more things to clean up, but this particular issue is solved
Freso
reosarevok: ^ I think you can reply to support@ and ask if their issue is resolved. :)

Hi floks. I'm a new user and need some advice on an issue I've come across.
It's regarding a duplicate record label that I believe needs merging. (And it's Hi folks :P)

link to the two labels?

Hi. Is there anyone here that can advise on how to handle Release Groups?
rdswift
What is your question?
Aitch99
Hi. I have a release from a label that is marked "Jazz Out of Norway 41" It has the Code "ODIN NJ 4041-2"
There are several other releases bearing similar codes but no Release Group for "Jazz Out of Norway". Is this a good case to create a new Release Group and update all relevant releases?
OK thanks, but I was told earlier by chaban that if a CD is released as a stand alone issue it should have it's own release group??
reosarevok
Aitch99: sure

Aitch99: basically, the idea is that only stuff like reissues of the same album/single/whatever should share an RG
There's a few edge cases I guess, but in general, as Freso said, if in doubt it's better to just create a new one
If someone else thinks they should be the same, they can always merge them :)

Aitch99: It feels like you might be suggesting moving the other releases into the new RG. That would be wrong. This sounds like a series. Volumes in the series should have their own RG.
"Jazz Out of Norway" would be a Series connecting the releases (and release groups) "Jazz Out of Norway 1", "Jazz Out of Norway 2", ..., "Jazz Out of Norway 41"
Aitch99
Thanks Zastai that's exactly how my thinking was going. I'll look into Series - that's a new concept to me.
Thanks all!

What includes (?inc=) to a WS call should I use to retrieve a specific release with the track titles and track artists? Everything I've tried returns the recording title and recording artists but not the track title and track artists.
Usually they are the same, but not always.

rdswift, can you give me a release mbid where they're different so I can play around?
rdswift
I'll see if I can find one for you. I was mainly going by the returned value that only shows a title in the "recording" section.
CallerNo6
oh, if you don't have one handy then don't go out of your way
but yeah with both those options I see On & On & On vs On and On and On in the track vs recording title
rdswift
Argh! I just realized that it only includes the track title if it is different from the recording title. It all works fine. User error was the problem. ;-)
Thanks, and I apologize for wasting your time.
CallerNo6
oh, haha, I didn't think to look for that. I was only looking at tracks where the values were different.

I'm seeing track title and recording title both present even when the same though
in the json at least
looks like the xml does not; I'd be inclined to call that a bug
(whether the Powers that Be consider the xml to be bugged or the json, I don't know)

Zastai, I see what you mean about seeing both in the JSON version. That doesn't seem to be the case with the XML response. Also they don't appear with the response by the Python musicbrainzngs module (based on XML response). Added ticket https://tickets.metabrainz.org/browse/MBS-10875
