What if it's virtually impossible to know because the archives don't have it but it links to another way to get the music which at the time it was linked, it used the same album art?

I'm trying to tag a dump of ELO music, bit AcoustID isn't working for a significant portion of them, like "Strange Magic". Are a lot of popular songs missing audio fingerprints in the musicbrainz database?

cheezmo2: I'm not really well versed with these sacd releases. is this the right way of doing it https://beta.musicbrainz.org/release/98907a1e-085… with differnt mediums for cd and sacd layers?

      • CatQuest
i think I have like *one* sacd thing (some pink floyd thing) but i have no idea how to separate sacd from cd "layer"

      • CatQuest
(or if the recordings are actually differnt on my release :P)
      • 2020-08-02 21527, 2020

      • cheezmo2
Yes. CD layer can have discid. SACD layer often has stereo and multichannel. Style guidelines say to include both but it is acceptible to leave the stereo off the SACD layer for convenience. But they should not be removed if someone has added them.
      • 2020-08-02 21505, 2020

      • cheezmo2
The recordings are likely the same. There are a few SACD releases where there are differences (track list or recordings) between the CD and SACD stereo layer, but it isn't common.
      • 2020-08-02 21523, 2020

      • cheezmo2
Regular CD players can only play the CD layer. There are usually options on an SACD player to prefer the SACD stereo or Multichannel or even just play the CD laye.
