Does anyone know how discids like this get created? https://musicbrainz.org/cdtoc/T6hoak93U7w8XbGZO9A… There is a correct one attached to this release which shows it to be 1:17 but this discid (which someane attached to a release indicates it is 10 hours long.

From the discussion it seems that that they can't do it within specs. (single layer, uncompressed DSD)

(or a hybrid one for that matter)

is it to do with the SHM manufacturing process?

From what I read the creators felt that single layer uncompressed DSD sounds better so they don't do it. I'm sure the manufacturing process would support it but it isn't possible with the limitaions they put on the spec.

We just added medium formats for SHM-SACD (2ch) and SHM-SACD (mch) as part of a bigger SACD medium format improvement. They should probably go away.

With the new SACD medium format for the "mch" area, debate is starting over whether it is still appropriate to add ETI for the mix info. A big issue seems to be that most editors use userscripts that show disambiguation after the track titles but general users would not see that info (or get it when tagging with picard without adding release_comment in a script. https://musicbrainz.org/edit/73703622
