zas, outsidecontext: is there an option in Picard to use legal name instead of artist name for tagging? If not, is that something that can be done with a script of some sort?
Hi, zas. It was actually me with this question. I will try address it now to you if possible. A situation - i have added a new artist and as usual i do - i have added it in full legal name (as in PRO) and with IPI. But then other editor merged it with other arist, which was named in alias (artist name). I dont mind about merging since its the same person anyway, but now his default name is alias, while i would prefer to still use his full legal
name. Is there any option in MB/picard to use
<Darkloke> his full (birth?) name instead an alias?
There was some discussion about this before with outsidecontext and we (probably) came to conslusion that it would be nice to have a artist birth name as an additional option to use in picard.

ROpdebee: There seems to be a bug with auto diff. When `ROpdebee_autoComputeDiff` exists it will always compute diff automatically regardless if it's `false` or `true` I've overcome this by deleting the item which in turn requires a page reload to become effective.
is a weird mix of : promoters, venues, and festivals
reosarevok
Yeah. They have venues as their own thing, so we should use those links for that
Promoters that aren't labels or artists are not something MB currently covers anyway
But the festivals are a weird case
darwin
it also isn't every venue-as-promoter, so there has to be some weird case where a venue is considered a promoter
reosarevok
Might be that promoters can create their own pages and some venues just do that?
We have 3 festival-promoters now
(but we don't currently support adding new /promoter links)
So I was wondering whether we need to allow it for series to cover festivals :)

(we looked into this a little in pm and) I think every festival that has a promoter will also have an event for that festival.
because a promoter is an entity-that-sold-tickets-to-an-event via RA
reosarevok
I think the idea is that they have an event for each edition of the festival (which maps to an event in MB)
But the promoter seems to be for the festival as a whole. But that doesn't seem to be "a way to represent a festival" but "a way to sell tickets for a festival"
So not sure it makes sense to support it anyway
darwin
yeah, I agree.

<reosarevok> is there an option in Picard to use legal name instead of artist name for tagging? I just updated the Additional Artists Variables plugin to expose variables with the legal name (if available). Submitted PR. Currently available at https://github.com/rdswift/picard-plugins/tree/...

Darkloke wanted that :)

I see that he's not logged in, so I sent him an email letting him know that it's available.

does anybody know how the Bandcamp importer userscript works?
I installed it, but I can't see the button anywhere when I actually visit a Bandcamp release
