MBS-11596: Add Barcode and Catalog Number to Top Searchbar
reosarevok
I never considered it before, but IMO it might actually be a good idea - as per my comment there, I have often started barcode or catno searches from there in two steps...

I am currently working to MusicBrainz data and database
I would like to retrieve the list of writers related to a certain work using a recording title and recording artist (singer) .
I have searched Musicbrainz db however I did not find a direct way for writers information.
Could you please give me any direction how to retrieve this information ?
reosarevok
pantelis: you need to find the linked works with l_recording_work
Then find the writers with l_artist_work
(both steps use relationships)

Thanks ! I created the above query . However how can we understand the type of the artist? For example singer or writer
I wonder if I should update the recording titles and artist credits.
(and the name of the group to the Japanese name too)

reosarevok: Hmm, you can already find releases with a barcode if u just enter the barcode and choose "releases". Same behavior could be added for catalog numbers. separate entries in the drop down menu are not strictly neccessary imo :)
reosarevok
Wait, that works? :D
SothoTalKer
try it
reosarevok
I've always searched it with barcode:whatever

"090204056576" gets found, but its catalog number "ZYX 7010-8" does not

one thing: advanced search seem to be off by default, so any searches with keywords wont work in the search bar
one could make indexed search with AQS the default

catalog number search seems to generally not work well... even with advanced queries
reosarevok
We could, but if we did that then it would be worse for basic searches like "nirvana nevermind" or whatnot, IIRC

it's not in the coverartarchive collection on IA, and it's not uploaded by CAA. Technically, the person who created that item has the power to arbitrarily add and remove images and they would be displayed on site
(scratch that, they wouldn't be displayed because thumbs aren't being created, but they would be linked from the site)
i'm not sure if an IA admin can remove their privileges from that item (and whether it would be ethical to do so)
