(which is why it doesn't overflow in my chrome/linux)
      • Anoia
        IE8 standards fits
      • nikki
jesus2099: the images never touch the mb servers, so modbot doesn't know whether it works or not.
      • flamingspinach
<nikki> flamingspinach: leaving the type blank would probably be more accurate then
      • oh, I guess so
      • ianmcorvidae
oh, you know, it may be in part because of fonts
      • Anoia
IE7 standards fits but the buttons screw up
      • quirks, all hell breaks loose :)
      • ianmcorvidae
        heh

nikki: at apply time (at least) modbot could check the URL to see if it’s 200 OK
      • ianmcorvidae
ie7 isn't even one of our supported browsers, so I'm not concerned about that one
      • flamingspinach
hmm, did it happen again? http://musicbrainz.org/edit/21006774
      • Anoia
seriously, no images, 2" deep navbar, screwed layout :)
      • ianmcorvidae
        haha
      • flamingspinach
maybe CAA just really doesn't like this jpeg
      • nikki
        wtf...
      • Anoia
190% fits nicely and has a nice gap too.
      • ianmcorvidae
with 190 it presumably puts "Goes" and "Here" on the same line, like it does at 200% for me
      • that being what the margin-top is optimized for :/
      • Anoia
      • yep
      • 180 fits on two lines and looks too small
      • ianmcorvidae
        yeah
      • I'd want to change the top margin if I dropped it to 180
      • flamingspinach
if there isn't some way to make the browser automatically resize the font to fill the frame then css3 is lame
      • ianmcorvidae
if there is one, I don't know what it is
      • nikki
flamingspinach: apparently it works when I upload it
      • jesus2099
        flamingspinach: maybe it’s not a jpg ?
      • nikki
        that's not the problem
      • flamingspinach
ok, thanks for uploading it anyway
      • I guess I'll cancel this edit too
      • gmk1
hm, how should I credit a featured artist which is credited as “… feat. <person> of <group>” in the booklet
      • nikki
I use "person of group" as the credited name for "person" for those
      • derr84 joined the channel
      • flamingspinach

Weird. I just found ISRCs with country code QM.
      • ianmcorvidae
yes, I think that's the new US code
      • they ran out of US codes and I know it's one of the Q codes they used as the successor :P
      • Leftmost
It's a US release, so that makes sense.
      • ianmcorvidae
(as in, they ran out of prefixes -- obviously not of codes per se)
      • Leftmost
There, I added some QM ISRCs.
      • ianmcorvidae
        hehe
      • nikki
you're not the first though ;)
      • reosarevok
        heh
      • wonder what QM is
      • ianmcorvidae
all the Q codes are reserved/private use IIRC
      • reosarevok
"oh dear, we have quite many ISRCs for the US!"
      • ianmcorvidae
or at least I know QM is in that range
      • reosarevok
        "YES, QM!"
      • jesus2099
        question mark ?
      • nikki sees 6 "isrcs" starting with TC
      • Leftmost
Yes, QM is a private-use code in ISO 3166.
      • reosarevok
        heh
      • nikki
also 26 starting with CN. no idea what's up with those. also 2 with XX
      • ianmcorvidae
weird, the TC ones should be disallowed
      • Leftmost
No assigning bodies in TC or CN?
      • nikki
the isrc handbook says ones starting with CN are invalid, china has some weird thing they call isrcs which aren't the same format
      • TC was hijacked by tunecore
      • and apparently there's never been any valid ones for there
      • ianmcorvidae
one assigning body that would have been in TC, last I heard, but which was assigned something in a different range due to the TC hijacking
      • tunecore originally actually hijacked "US" but that was apparently too much even for them :P
      • Leftmost
        Great.
      • nikki
        weird
      • reosarevok
ianmcorvidae: maybe they gave them CN! :D
      • ianmcorvidae
        haha

Regarding http://wiki.musicbrainz.org/Style/Classical/Rec... I currently have an orchestra and conductor listed as performers. Underneath the orchestra name is a list of soloists/performers in the orchestra e.g. "József ‘Csósi’ Lendvai, violin solo (No. 3)", "Erika Sebök, flute (No. 4: cadenzas)". Are these relatively "important" performers?
      • reosarevok shrugs
      • reosarevok
I might add them to the specific recordings
      • But as long as the relationships are there, it probably doesn't matter much
      • jacobbrett
reosarevok: Yep, I specifically mean recordings. And yeah, it looks like I might have four of these performers plus the orchestra plus conductor on one recording, which seems a bit overboard (though, I don't yet know the extent of their contribution).
      • reosarevok
        Heh, dunno
      • I don't see a reason to limit the number of artists but it's also probably fine to skip them, even more so since they're probably somewhat credited as part of the orchestra too
      • jacobbrett
reosarevok: Either, though as you mentioned they're implicitly credited as part of the orchestra anyway.

nikki maybe you know this :
      • Add release expires in 8 days
      • Add release label expires in 8 days
      • reosarevok
        8 days?
      • jesus2099
        then
      • Edit release expires in 6 days
      • and
      • Edit release label expires in 6 days
      • will the first edits fail because of the second edits ?
      • reosarevok
        Oh
      • No
      • nikki
        no
      • reosarevok
You can safely edit stuff being added
      • jesus2099
cool then :) thank you :)
      • reosarevok
(I've autoedited plenty of fixes in stuff like that :) )
      • jesus2099
I ask because usually it does not happen as often as now (we changed voting period and add edits were before and edit edits were after)
      • reosarevok: you have auto edited a release label for instance before it’s applied and without approving it… making the edit pending on a new edited label, right ? cool
      • reosarevok
        Yep
      • Or fixed stuff in a release before the add passes
      • nikki
the problems are edits that edit existing data, since then it checks that the old value has not changed, but for adds, there's no old value to check against
      • jesus2099
oh OK ! Now I understand, nikki !
      • it was more mystic before this precision
      • nikki: and this problem (I thought it was random because indeed it did not crash for adds but I didn’t understand when it didn’t crash) is disappearing with NES, isn’t it ?
      • nikki
I don't know the exact details of how it will work, but it's supposed to work a lot better than now, yes.
      • jesus2099
yes because I’ve heard something like editing an edit, it sounds exactly like that.

LOL bobnash has created 2 topics : « How to add an ASIN to a release ? » and « I need to talk in private with someone in charge at MusicBrainz. I want to send massive automated updates to your database » :D
      • reosarevok
Legally? An insane amount of licensing paperwork and fees I'd expect
      • jesus2099
please no massive automated ASIN updates :D
