any suggestion for what release types, statuses, etc. to use for one-offs like soundcloud, youtube, etc. uploads?

one-offs as in just a single song.

also, more specifically, one of those one-offs is a mashup of two songs, does that change status?

if I'm understanding correctly, your two best options are the API, or the Database. The previous link allows you to get access to the data in the database directly (which is prefered, much less load on MBz itself)
