You can add the release without track times, then add the discid with picard to set the track times. Or maybe somebody else will jump in with a better system.
reosarevok
There
's no better system AFAIK
If this is a multi-disc release
Well, adding each disc separately and merging allows to add them with track times from the get go, but it's an even dirtier hack
CallerNo6
Keep in mind, track titles usually need some manual tweaking anyway to get them style-compliant. Sometimes there's no quick way.
"usually"? well, at least "often".

CallerNo6: to add the discid with Picard do I need to wait for the new release data entry to be approved/indexed at MB? I can't seeme to get around the problem thta Picard doe snot appear to read these audio CD's due to it not finding a match at MB.
Yes I understand the tweaking requiurements - same with a few titles that have multiple artists requiring artist credit tweaking.
THe GUI at MB is good for that. Tedious but good.
CallerNo6
You don't need to wait for the edit to be approved, no.
najevi
OK well I will give that a shot. Many thanks. Incidentally in the interrim I found some of these releases a FreeDB and so uing that import method has solved the list merge problem I had for at least one of these box sets.
CallerNo6
I can't remember what happens if the newly-entered release isn't indexed yet.
ianmcorvidae
it won't appear in searches except direct searches
CallerNo6
ianmcorvidae: for the purposes of "submit discid" from picard I mean. About to try it.
ianmcorvidae
ah, that shouldn't matter -- you always need to attach things via the site
CallerNo6
So, "scan disc" in Picard sends you to a manual search page on MB, but no "direct search" option is given.
Oh, wait, I'm being dumb.
(again)
ianmcorvidae
I think direct searh is the only thing on MB for attaching CDTOCs

najevi: use a greasemonkey script.
najevi: easiest is probably the discogs importer, because your stuff will probably be in discogs.
and a list of track duratons with a list f track titles

Well my fiorst edit was just completed. This release was found in FreeDB so that import went very smoothly. Just the tedious tweeking of artist credits and one or two typos to correct. Since I am a limited user the MB database may not show it for a while though.
Picard CD Lookup stil ldoes not read the disc. So maybe I try again in a few days to see if the edit has been approved.
thank you to derwin and CallerNo6
Oh very cool. Now i understand what you meant by adding the disc ID. Went off without a hitch, following a manual search.
CallerNo6
ah, I was just about to reply. Good. Glad that worked out.
najevi
Used Picard for this and now Picard does succesfully do a CD Lookup
An SoundJuicer now pulls in the CD TOC as desired
I feel empowered!

So tell me this. There is MB and there is FreeDB and I don;t yet know about discoggs, however, is the mutual importing of data from say FreeDb to MB solely reliant on individual users "getting around to it" so to speak?
CallerNo6
Yes. There /was/ a bot years ago that imported freedb releases into MB, but the quality was too low. It was decided that human eyeballs were needed. Generally, discogs data is quite good, but there's no formal sharing relationship.
najevi
Oh dear. Even though I was careful to enter separate a release for each CD in the set the CDTOC pulled in by SoundJuicer is for all 5 CDs from the set.
OK that's fair enough.
CallerNo6
link to the release you're working on? i'm about to run out, but I'll take a look later tonight.
najevi
So it looks like there are 101 tracks instead of just 20 tracks on CD 1
CallerNo6: I'd like to be involved with a "browsing site" too. Hit me up if you actually take it somewhere.

i just foind out that "ISRC ran out of "US" codes"
so "QM" is the new "US" :P
luks
clearly we need ISRCv6 :)
warp
let's make recording mbids ISRCv6
ianmcorvidae
or we could just call them ISRCv2, since we don't have the Internet Stream Protocol or the first four revisions of the internet protocol to muck with things :P
Freso
Or ISRC-NG
warp
in todays world of version inflation a version 2 sounds like prototype stage and not production ready. ;)
RootWyrm_
ISRC Release 203 it is.
v6lur
503 would theme with MB better ^^
Leftmost
It's not production ready until at least 23.

If someone wrote a tale and someone added some musique to it to make a play for children, who should be the artist for a) the release b) tracks
I could use the classical rule and do something like Author; Other, Artists, Seperated, Comma
