seems odd to change it if the cover art has 'their'
however, I don't know what the cover has, so :)
v6lur
cover has "their" and "medh" and "riki"
i'd change "riki" to "ríki" in any case, but am not so sure about "th" and "dh"
ianmcorvidae
I'd say don't change them, and follow the cover
even though it's less correct from a language perspective

unless you can find sources that suggest they consider the correct orthography to be a valid title
even then maybe not though

hawke_1: If you save as JPG, it definitely does recompress.
hawke_1
Yep.
pbryan
You can attempt to extract the images using another tool... pdfimages.
hawke_1
Yeah, I’m not worried about that at all
it’s just for cover art
pbryan
Ah, okay.

is there any way to force Picard to re-submit fingerprints?

hawke_1: Have you tried moving the tracks to a different release and then back?
VxJasonxV
Is there a sane way to handle multiple releases of differing media, with the same exact details of everything else?
It really annoys me when I make a digital release, then a CD comes out for it, I have to go back and edit it to be a CD in order to attach a stub to it.
it pains me that a given release can have multiple labels / release events, but not "aliased" or some other mediums
reosarevok
You can easily reuse recordings and tracklist by adding it from the same RG page
Well, I certainly care more about whether I own a vinyl or a FLAC that about whether it was released on a Friday or a Monday
But still, a release can't have different dates anyway as of now
VxJasonxV
yeah, that one hurts too
reosarevok
And the label thing is supposed to apply when a release is co-published (as in, it has both logos and stuff)
Not when two labels release it separately
reosarevok remembers the crust 12" he has in Spain which was published by like 8 labels, half of the back is logos
navap
We went from one extreme of everything in one release, sometimes even remasters and slightly different tracklists, to everything is a separate release :(
VxJasonxV
overflowing RGs make me sad too
hawke_1
navap: That’s what I ended up doing, but it was annoying to do with 50 tracks
reosarevok
VxJasonxV, overflowing?

jesus2099: if you read this scrollback, it would be nice for the acoustid display userscript to add an ellipsis at the end of the acoustid, to indicate that it’s not the entire thing.
jesus2099: Hmm, yeah, it’s working for me now too.
jesus2099
héhé . about … on AcoustID on INLINE STUFF .. well I mimic the github display as it takes 1 char less, but maybe I'll try to see if it looks good with … :)

What progress (if any) is there on translating the Musicbrainz docs into other languages? (I'm curious about Japanese)
reosarevok
Docs? none at the moment sadly
We are not too sure how to do them
hawke_1
Do we even have any framework for how to translate the wiki?
reosarevok
That's what I meant :p
ianmcorvidae
we don't, no
yindesu
I'm stuck trying to communicate with a Japanese-native speaker on an edit he's (wrongly) voting against =\
jesus2099
yindesu tell me edit number I can help maybe with my poor level
there are 2 points to get across, 1) Label == Imprint image on spine/obi/disc, 2) Sony Japan and King Records catnos should be assumed Hyphens over Spaces
jesus2099
point 1 is quite ok for him :)
her
?
ianmcorvidae is asking a friend who's fluent in japanese to read the original japanese they linked
yindesu: I have to go to bed but will try to explain shortly to jpn editor. I will beforehand check if you find another yes voter in the mean time ;)
ianmcorvidae: I can read but have to reply properly :)
yindesu
ianmcorvidae i'm pretty sure he posted the google translation as the edit node
note*
jesus2099
tomorrow :)
ianmcorvidae
yes, he did
so I'm hoping to get a more naturalistic translation, to clarify the discussion for those of us that don't speak japanese :)

btw yindesu there is no official doc saying to use hyphen, it's just my post on somewhere
yindesu
which basically says nothing useful about the Label (he's wrong), and says that Sony Japan physical releases do "AAAA ####" whereas the "standard" in Japan, and the standard Sony uses for all online text, is "AAAA-####" (hyphen over space)
I'm pretty sure there's precedent in the edit voting that people have shot down spaces
jesus2099
he says
sony always print space no hyphen
both hyphen and space are correct
there is no strong good reason to change in this edit
label change is ok though
yindesu
sony doesn't _always_ print a space, 99.9% sure
jesus2099
(s)he’s not saying wrong stuff
yindesu
they've printed it without a space or hyphen before (mostly Aniplex CDs though)
jesus2099
it’s just maybe we do prefer putting hyphens everywhere even me but there is no guideline for ths...
yindesu
the point is, catnos is something which should obviously be standardized one way or the other
