I can't even put into words what my confusion is. I know exactly what you're saying, I understand the difference, but there's an exception there that I can't put into words.

well if it helps any, I also can't put into words my confusion here :P

I guess you could say, anything you could enter in the "Artist as credited" field of the AC editor, would be ignored by Picard
2012-01-02 00226, 2012
VxJasonxV
but it's not just 'as credited'
2012-01-02 00237, 2012
VxJasonxV
it's also the value used for splitting artists, right?
2012-01-02 00246, 2012
VxJasonxV
Oh, ok. Durr
2012-01-02 00203, 2012
VxJasonxV
Belle and Sebastian is not a grouping that would be split like that
2012-01-02 00221, 2012
VxJasonxV
that one album is a single artist named as 'Belle & Sebastian', via the 'as credited' you're talking about
2012-01-02 00228, 2012
VxJasonxV
finally
2012-01-02 00236, 2012
VxJasonxV
good morning brain :/.
2012-01-02 00243, 2012
bitmap now sees the confusion :)
2012-01-02 00251, 2012
VxJasonxV
so, that means my question is:
2012-01-02 00214, 2012
VxJasonxV
I have, for example, lots of music by deadmau5, and a few singles by kaskade & deadmau5, and kaskade + deadmau5
2012-01-02 00218, 2012
VxJasonxV
do you know what would happen then?
2012-01-02 00241, 2012
bitmap
it wouldn't help at all, because it doesn't touch join phrases like & or +
2012-01-02 00254, 2012
bitmap
it would only change the artist names, if necessary
2012-01-02 00244, 2012
bitmap
hrglrmph(?) had that same problem, and I think he submitted a patch that standardizes collaboration names like that
2012-01-02 00237, 2012
VxJasonxV
I know who you're talking about :)
2012-01-02 00239, 2012
VxJasonxV
so, good to know.
2012-01-02 00253, 2012
VxJasonxV
I suspect that option would do more harm than good for a lot of options for me. But that's why it's a preference.
oh yeah, at first I thought I was doing something wrong, it couldn't be that painful
2012-01-02 00230, 2012

I fear many people were too lazy and didn't edit recording titles
2012-01-02 00238, 2012

Fear? I'm quite sure

+ many people still probably don't even know what this recording thing is and that it exists :p
2012-01-02 00206, 2012

fixing it will be hard

reosarevok wonders whether hrdsofosjdgfs has been working on that :)
2012-01-02 00228, 2012
luks
what's even worse is moving an album to a different artist
2012-01-02 00246, 2012
luks
you have to change every single recording
2012-01-02 00247, 2012
reosarevok
YES
2012-01-02 00253, 2012
reosarevok
Thinking of fixing that? :p
2012-01-02 00205, 2012
luks
well, I assume it will be fixed with that ticket
2012-01-02 00227, 2012
reosarevok
Hmm, I hope so
2012-01-02 00252, 2012
reosarevok
A "hey, the whole RG is in the wrong artist, please move it!" button would be even better
2012-01-02 00201, 2012
reosarevok
But I guess per-release is still fine
2012-01-02 00257, 2012

jesus2099: if you leave the browser open, it'll remember the login and won't keep asking. if it's not actually submitting anything though, that's news to me
2012-01-02 00244, 2012

and it won't work in opera until mb stops using http digest auth or until opera supports it

I tried deleting cookies but it must be stored somewhere else (like IE stores basic HTTP auth in special place we have to reset it with wrong value)

nikki: how stupid I was again ! I was just stuck at « This form will now submit the ISRCs for this album to MusicBrainz. The MusicBrainz server will prompt you to authenticate. » I did not remamber I had to click twice on a submit button !
