but it's not just 'as credited'

it's also the value used for splitting artists, right?

that one album is a single artist named as 'Belle & Sebastian', via the 'as credited' you're talking about

it wouldn't help at all, because it doesn't touch join phrases like & or +

it would only change the artist names, if necessary

hrglrmph(?) had that same problem, and I think he submitted a patch that standardizes collaboration names like that
