which label should I use when amazon says "EMI UK" (somebody recently said here one shouldn't alway believe amazon on labels)? and country for digital media on amazon germany should be EU since all amazon in europe use this?
      • 2012-01-15 01520, 2012

All Amazon in Europe use DE?

        What about amazon.fr and .es?

In case anyone still cares, yes, there was a 1989 CD release as well, "Hungaroton" label, not "Hungaroton Classic", diff cover, longer by about 30 seconds total (presumably longer gaps)

kovacsur, feel free to add it, re-using the recordings :)

aww, no discid, I was hoping I could ID the one we already have based on that
      • 2012-01-15 01558, 2012

      • kepstin
aww, using the 'relate to recordings' on a release don't let you add recording-recording relations backwards?
      • 2012-01-15 01510, 2012

      • kepstin
so I can't use that to add the karaoke relationships :/
      • 2012-01-15 01512, 2012

      • rochusw
no not all use de, all i checked used the "EMI UK" version ;9)
      • 2012-01-15 01514, 2012

      • SultS
rochusw: I‘d go with EMI United Kingdim, since seems to be a proper label, and there is IMO good reason to create a page for it.

should i create a sub-label-relationship to EMI, too?
      • 2012-01-15 01501, 2012

      • SultS
        I’d say yes
      • 2012-01-15 01550, 2012

      • rochusw
i'm asking, because EMI appears to have NO relationships ;)

and if/when you create it, perhaps you can link the edit to the edit I pasted here

and a fairly big one too, I’d imagine
      • 2012-01-15 01555, 2012

      • kovacsur
        there's EMI Group
      • 2012-01-15 01507, 2012

      • kovacsur
as the parent of most regional labels
      • 2012-01-15 01546, 2012

      • SultS
discogs says plain EMI is the parent
      • 2012-01-15 01553, 2012

      • SultS
        but they’ve been wrong before
      • 2012-01-15 01513, 2012

      • kovacsur
both are correct in a way, I guess
      • 2012-01-15 01526, 2012

      • rochusw
ah, emi group looks at least more correct than emi ;)
      • 2012-01-15 01531, 2012

      • kovacsur
        EMI Group is more specific
      • 2012-01-15 01541, 2012

      • SultS
or perhaps emi → emi group → emi uk
      • 2012-01-15 01501, 2012

      • kepstin
maybe we should just send them an email and ask them for their org chart ;)
      • 2012-01-15 01525, 2012

      • kovacsur
The Discogs page for "EMI" says, "The current parent company of all the EMI labels and companies is EMI Group. "
      • 2012-01-15 01539, 2012

      • kovacsur
so maybe they are in the process of moving the sublabels there
      • 2012-01-15 01555, 2012

      • kovacsur
        Confusing.
      • 2012-01-15 01552, 2012

      • SultS
after some reading I’d put both EMI and EMI United Kingdom under EMI Group, though I don’t consider EMI Group a parent *label*
      • 2012-01-15 01520, 2012

      • kovacsur
It's a parent company, but if we strictly wanted to use imprints, we'd be in trouble
      • 2012-01-15 01559, 2012

      • SultS
I agree that it definetly has its uses
      • 2012-01-15 01502, 2012

      • kovacsur
The "EMI" imprint is used globally, so we'd have to stick releases from dozens of regions under the same MB label
      • 2012-01-15 01525, 2012

      • kepstin
maybe we should add another label type for these top level companies, 'holding group' or something.
      • 2012-01-15 01533, 2012

      • SultS
        there already is “holding”
      • 2012-01-15 01503, 2012

      • SultS
EMI Group is under holding, but the page still displays misleading “Label”
      • 2012-01-15 01532, 2012

      • SultS
I think label pages should use type like work pages do
      • 2012-01-15 01551, 2012

      • kepstin
that should be a pretty simple patch
      • 2012-01-15 01555, 2012

kepstin, could I ask you a quick favour of checking if JASRAC has any works related to Niels Kinsella? It’s a little bit difficult to use, if I can’t understand anything / using gtranslator :) other databases don’t seem to have bonus tracks from japanese album versions.
