Lotheric
If artist A perform as artist B and Artist A birthdate is known, do we have to edit Artist B with the same birthdate ? Or will it show once the edit to Artist A is accepted ?
I've run into a half dozen more of these today, with 0 relationships yet showing album art

yindesu : I wonder if some of those aren't retrieved with the barcode

That sounds like a bad idea, I thought the entire purpose of manually adding ASIN's is because we don't assume Amazon is always correct :P

Lotheric: There's currently no automatic way to show start/end dates for performs-as relationships.

yindesu: I think we've been able to enter ASIN/Amazon UTL relationships for a good deal longer amount of time than we've been able to properly assign barcodes to releases.

@Freso: so do you know where the album art is coming from? (is it fetched from Amazon by barcode despite no ASIN?)

there's a ticket about that iirc yindesu

I know, but I was more curious what part of Musicbrainz is doing it.

(that's what I meant by where is it coming from - I did of course view the image to see it wasn't coming from the cover art archive, too)
Amazon (read: Sony Music Entertainment Japan) would never have provided Amazon.co.jp with a scan of the front of the jewel case of an import. (the amazon image includes an Obi, versus a clean copy of the front cover)

the real question is why Amazon.co.jp is selling a Korean import in Japan (which is illegal)

I'm guessing it won't ship to a Japanese address when you go checkout

I have an artist which should be split. Neither of the two endpoints currently exist. Would it be bad karma to create one of the two, rename the "artist-to-be-split" (without changing ACs), and then fix the AC?
(each of the individual discs in my set has the same catalogue number as in that musicbrainz release page, etc)

what do I do? Just add the UK ASIN? Something more complicated?

I suspect yours is the 1991 one though, and the linked Amazon is a later reissue

(it does say 2002 in Amazon, not that that's usually very trustworthy)

Well, it's not too great because that's saying the MBID which applied to artist X (the collab) now applies to artist Y

reosarevok: But Artist A does not current exist except as half of Artist X. Everything that currently points to Artist X should still point Artist A (and also to Artist B). Renaming/-purposing Artist X to Artist A would make all previous links still valid, as the system doesn't properly track artist splits.
