nikki wonders if anyone else who edits japanese stuff is around
ianmcorvidae not sure if I count, I haven't actually edited much
nikki
I'm mostly wondering if anyone else thinks we should merge nippon columbia and columbia music entertainment
ianmcorvidae
ooh
I have no idea, then :)
nikki
damn :)
ruaok joined the channel
they changed from nippon columbia to cme in 2002 and back to nippon columbia last year, so I'm wondering if it would be better to just merge them and explain in the annotation
because all the other cases I know of where we split based on name are just a mess
ah, what am I talking about. labels in general are a mess :P
it'd help if we knew what we were trying to do
ianmcorvidae
yeah.
do we have label-label ARs?
nikki
yes
ianmcorvidae
hm
caller_6
I've been wondering the same sorts of things w/r/t labels in general. Is it useful to have Sanctuary UK and Sanctuary US if having both leads to more misfiled releases?
nikki nods
nikki
it's certainly not the only case I know of
caller_6
But if you merge Nippon Columbia w/ CME, somebody will add it again next week.
warp
nikki: I would keep the labels as they appear on the cd case (for the reason caller_6 just mentioned).
we need label credits :)
nikki
I'm not sure they would, people just pick whatever looks close enough
warp
"nippon columbia" and "columbia music entertainment" do not look close.
nikki
like half of the stuff under emi music japan is from before they ever used that name, sony music entertainment and sony bmg music entertainment have the same problem (when most the releases I have just say "sony music" :P)
