That looks like a call center
      • 2011-02-01 03217, 2011

      • ocharles
I'm seriously into the idea of starting to build a modular synth soon
      • 2011-02-01 03243, 2011

      • ocharles
I don't get how he says "been building over the last couple of years" and then "so this is my first patch"
      • 2011-02-01 03249, 2011

      • reosarevok
You should make sure you don't die of starvation before it is done
      • 2011-02-01 03253, 2011

      • reosarevok
Or it will be sadly useless
      • 2011-02-01 03201, 2011

      • reosarevok
        (and we'll lose a dev!)
      • 2011-02-01 03206, 2011

      • reosarevok
But apart from that, why not :)
      • 2011-02-01 03208, 2011

      • ocharles
        :)
      • 2011-02-01 03227, 2011

      • reosarevok
Can be annoying to take around for live sets, though :p
      • 2011-02-01 03208, 2011

      • reosarevok
I guess deadmau5 is on the "they pay for it anyway" level, but dunno if you are :)
      • 2011-02-01 03216, 2011

      • ocharles
        :P
      • 2011-02-01 03221, 2011

      • ocharles
Naw, I don't really play live anyway
      • 2011-02-01 03228, 2011

      • ocharles
well, where don't really = not at all
      • 2011-02-01 03201, 2011

      • reosarevok
Well, there's always a first time
      • 2011-02-01 03256, 2011

      • reosarevok
And it could be a funny first time. "hey, is this the place? Huh? If I take my synth in, the audience has to go out, no space for both!"
      • 2011-02-01 03206, 2011

      • ocharles
i showed my dad the fat bastard modular synth and he said "so... you're selling your bed then?"
      • 2011-02-01 03212, 2011

      • reosarevok
        heh
      • 2011-02-01 03225, 2011

      • reosarevok
You could always hang the bed from the roof
      • 2011-02-01 03231, 2011

      • reosarevok
And go up with a cord ladder

      • ocharles
      • 2011-02-01 03239, 2011

And maybe it could barely fit
      • 2011-02-01 03200, 2011

      • reosarevok
        Ok, no
      • 2011-02-01 03205, 2011

      • reosarevok
        You wouldn't fit anyway
      • 2011-02-01 03210, 2011

      • ocharles
        :)
      • 2011-02-01 03251, 2011

      • ocharles
I think I'll just get the Dark Energy first and see how I get on with that. That has an oscillator, 2 lfos, 2 adsr envelopes and is semi modular so I can play around
      • 2011-02-01 03207, 2011

      • ocharles
sadly buying a rack and some modules will cost too much for one month :(

      • 2011-02-01 03209, 2011

but I totally misunderstood it as something like "huh? someone pasted an edit note here for us to change and I can't see it?"

        Quick question........
      • 2011-02-01 03237, 2011

      • PeepoAWAY
When an album is listed in the right pane of Picard, How can I go to the DB page of that release without manually looking for it?
      • 2011-02-01 03251, 2011

      • reosarevok
You mean once it is found?
      • 2011-02-01 03257, 2011

      • reosarevok
        Select it
      • 2011-02-01 03202, 2011

      • reosarevok
        And press "lookup"
      • 2011-02-01 03206, 2011

      • reosarevok
The one in the bottom right corner
      • 2011-02-01 03216, 2011

      • reosarevok
I think it should take you to the release page
      • 2011-02-01 03238, 2011

      • PeepoAWAY
LOL....Never noticed the giant "Lookup" button before.
      • 2011-02-01 03245, 2011

      • PeepoAWAY
        Thanks for that :)

        Yeah
      • 2011-02-01 03206, 2011

      • reosarevok
That's also the one you should use
      • 2011-02-01 03214, 2011

      • reosarevok
If Picard does NOT find a release
      • 2011-02-01 03229, 2011

      • reosarevok
Pressing that will automatically take you to the search on the website :)
      • 2011-02-01 03238, 2011

      • PeepoAWAY
        OK, thanks.
      • 2011-02-01 03247, 2011

      • reosarevok
(yeah, it is kinda unfortunate that we have two "lookup" buttons that do different things)
      • 2011-02-01 03216, 2011

      • PeepoAWAY
Another unfortunate thing is that sometimes the Amazon ASIN taken from Amazon.co.uk does not always resolve to a valid page on Amazon.com :(

      • 2011-02-01 03251, 2011

But I don't know if that means he's a jazz fan, or just that it was relevant to the discussion

      • caller_6
mikemorr: I was looking at http://musicbrainz.org/release/7f75ea06-7441-4356… , thinking about changing the track artist to the MD Quintet, but leaving the release artist as is.
      • 2011-02-01 03218, 2011

      • caller_6
or sextet. whatever. haven't looked up the sessions yet.
      • 2011-02-01 03205, 2011

      • mikemorr
I'm not up to speed with the latest MB style preferences, but I tend to think of "the artist" of a track and/or release as being "whoever's name it's marketed under". If the quintet/sextet is named as such on the release packaging, then it might make sense to do what you're saying.
      • 2011-02-01 03245, 2011

      • mikemorr
But since all I see (going only by the cover art) is "Miles & Coltrane", I'd be inclined to leave it as such, and let the ARs indicate the other performers on each track.
      • 2011-02-01 03222, 2011

      • mikemorr
But there may be some jazz style guides pertaining to release and track artists of which I'm unaware.
