Given a two-disc classical release where each CD contains music of the same composer performed by different artists, what should be included in the FeaturingArtist portion of the release group title?
      • 2011-04-16 10634, 2011

      • caller_6
stan: is there a conductor or soloist that the two discs have in common?
      • 2011-04-16 10624, 2011

      • stan
        No, completely different individuals.
      • 2011-04-16 10618, 2011

      • caller_6
well, you can't go too far wrong since there /is/ no official answer : )
      • 2011-04-16 10631, 2011

      • caller_6
does the release have a distinct title (one that doesn't need to be CSG-ified)?
      • 2011-04-16 10602, 2011

      • stan
no, the title refers to specific works (Symphony No. 2, etc)
      • 2011-04-16 10607, 2011

      • caller_6
I ask because the point of the (feat. ...) is to disambiguate the release from other similarly-titled releases.
      • 2011-04-16 10652, 2011

      • caller_6
hmm. Then it sounds safe to add both artists to the release group name.
      • 2011-04-16 10611, 2011

      • stan
caller_6: I was thinking of the following: main_title (Bolshoi Symphony Orchestra feat. conductor: Alexander Lazarev, London Symphony Orchestra feat. piano: Alexei Sultanov, composer: Maxim Shostakovich, ...)

        I'd suggest separating the two with a " / " instead of a comma.
      • 2011-04-16 10631, 2011

      • caller_6
Otherwise, it may not be a "pretty" title but it serves its purpose.
      • 2011-04-16 10622, 2011

      • stan
makes sense. As for the two releases, I guess, their titles would reflect the specific works and performers.
      • 2011-04-16 10602, 2011

      • caller_6
        Exactly.

Hello guys in Featuring Artist Style said that For more than two: "... (feat. Foo, Bar, Baz ... & Quux)".
      • 2011-04-16 10629, 2011

      • dubwai
but why Foo at the first, B > F and should be wright (feat. Bar, Baz, Foo ... & Quux)?

      • nikki
dubwai: I imagine people would use the same order the artists are listed in on the cover
      • 2011-04-16 10610, 2011

      • dubwai
nikki ok thanks, but what about the spelling artist name, it must be how in cover or in MB database?
      • 2011-04-16 10647, 2011

      • nikki
I'm not sure. I would probably use what's on the cover, since we can use relationships to link to the actual artist
      • 2011-04-16 10635, 2011

In the right hand pane... If it shows "My Album (5/10; 2*)" I get that it found 5 out of 10 tracks in My Album but what does the 2* mean? I've got a few cases where it has My Album twice with different #* after them? Invariably half the tracks are in one and half in the other.
