peer produced means data that has been created by multiple, often non-professional, people

as in mbz

as opposed to non-peer produced, like cddb

mr_maxis: the preevious fingerprints lokked good too (the one given yesterday or the day before in this IRC)

wizzcat: why don't they oppose official data with peer then? Who cares about reliability of tiers?

it's the whole wikipedia vs encyclopedia question, can a crowd of non-experts produce the same quality as one expert

While useful, I'd say it's just important to start with what you have and branch out from there.
