Right, that’s mostly why I was asking.

I recognized that they should be the same RG, but obviously for an RG to be the same they need to be on the same artist.

The question is, which?

usually I just go for whichever was there first if I'm not sure, if anyone disagrees, it's easy enough to change the artist

how would you interpret the ID3 WOAF frame (http://www.id3.org/id3v2.4.0-frames)? - "...a file specific webpage..." (?)

currently I would tend to a track or even a song specific webpage, but not a file specific webpage, or?

it would be about the unique pattern of bits which make up the file

even if you rename it, the file data is still the same, so it’s still the same file.

as far as I can tell (http://wiki.creativecommons.org/MP3) it’s basically a link to external metadata.

But I suppose it could be anything about that file (not that copy of that file)

so I guess you are speaking about its manifestation, or?

yeah, this is a really arguable topic

kinda like the letter A is “the letter A” no matter what font you use, that file is the data it contains no matter how it’s labelled

maybe also the reason, why mo:MusicalItem is currently not a sub class of frbr:Item :)

…Made a bit stickier by the fact that changing id3 data also changes the file data, so in that sense it becomes a different file.

anyway, I think the manifestation is here currently a good choice

my dream is, that ID3 tags etc. are replace by Semantic Graph based descriptions (hopefully Music Ontology based) ;)

I wish that more OSes would do stuff with resource forks or something similar.
