is it possible to copy a release to use as a template for a new release?
      • 2010-12-06 34052, 2010

      • VxJasonxV
I've asked a similar question before.

      • VxJasonxV
Do you program at all, ddaydj?
      • 2010-12-06 34015, 2010

      • ddaydj
no, i write scripts sometimes but nothing serious
      • 2010-12-06 34038, 2010

      • VxJasonxV
my suggestion for accomplishing what you asked?
      • 2010-12-06 34053, 2010

      • VxJasonxV
use the MBz API to pull the information, format it in a way that makes it easy to import via the track parser
      • 2010-12-06 34001, 2010

      • VxJasonxV
change the bits you need, done
      • 2010-12-06 34022, 2010

      • VxJasonxV
because no, there is no way to "copy data" like that, barring perhaps FreeDB

      • ddaydj
i have a few albums that pretty much just the album name is in japanese, the rest is in english :/

is there a live style that isn't "bootleg"?
      • 2010-12-06 34033, 2010

      • VxJasonxV
I guess not, because that would probably just make a "live album", which is just a "release"...
      • 2010-12-06 34048, 2010

      • VxJasonxV

I don't think the venue is significant, because there was only one show
      • 2010-12-06 34006, 2010

      • VxJasonxV
the location has changed each year, but that means the year is the significant bit

      • VxJasonxV
so, I'm naming this release (see fma.org link above): 2009-12-19: Blip Festival 2009, Brooklyn, NY, USA

" I don't think the venue is significant, because there was only one show the location has changed each year" - the venue for that event, maybe, but in terms of "useful", the venue for any given bootleg obviously won't be from that same venue, nor might someone know what that venue is every year; best to keep venue in
      • 2010-12-06 34010, 2010

      • brianfreud
Those are really "optional" not because there's no reason to include them, but because someone may not have that info for a given bootleg. (The same is true for the 2 manditory ones, but it's not as common(
      • 2010-12-06 34054, 2010

      • VxJasonxV
my point in all that, is that given the festival name (blip festival) and country (in the last year) it could only be one place
      • 2010-12-06 34001, 2010

      • VxJasonxV
there is only one blip festival concert per year
      • 2010-12-06 34013, 2010

and if that ever changes, the year is still significant anyways

its cool script, but not what i want. For example. Release is in database ( this script import it ) , but has no discogs relationship. I must find it and assign it manually, its fun, but after hour :) I would be fine make some script that fetch some info from discogs and i can make choice which album release url i can assign. And when importing trough murdos script would be fine make relation too, but i think its impossible now
