I'm outta patience, but I have plenty of cups of STFU....

people keep handing them to me. :-)

Hmm. If I need any of that, I'm sure someone around has plenty extra for me.:)
2010-03-02 06114, 2010

I find that I always make my edits while I'm tagging new rips. And that's when I always notice that someone screwed up the metadata. And then I have to change it in Picard.:)
2010-03-02 06141, 2010
Leftmost
I need a way either for my edits to take effect instantly or to get Picard to pull in changed metadata.
2010-03-02 06157, 2010
ruaok
pull the changed metadata is the way to go.
2010-03-02 06108, 2010
ruaok
but it requires smarts on the server so the server doesn't get overloaded.
2010-03-02 06124, 2010
ruaok
its something I've been wanting for years, but I've been thwarted so far. :(
2010-03-02 06135, 2010
Leftmost
Hmm. I'd say have the server store some sort of virtual copy of the metadata that can get pulled down, but that would inflate the database severely.
2010-03-02 06103, 2010
ruaok nods
2010-03-02 06126, 2010
eze
aye that would be fantastic, i too have that problem semi regularly Leftmost

Clearly I'm the only one capable of tagging music. *shakes head*
2010-03-02 06130, 2010
Leftmost
Hmm. If a classical track contains more than one movement, are they separated by slashes or by dashes?
2010-03-02 06108, 2010
navap
A slash sounds more appropriate than a dash to me.
2010-03-02 06143, 2010
Leftmost
Ergh. I want to change the tagging on this album but it's not even particularly consistent on the back of the case.
2010-03-02 06137, 2010
Leftmost
I'm also tempted to change it to original language, but who knows how that'll go over.

I finally got around to listening to Paolo Nutini's 'Sunny Side Up' album. My God! I haven't enjoyed listening to a new release so much in 20 years :-)
2010-03-02 06149, 2010
Leftmost
Hmm. Should it maybe be another release under the same release group? It's the same recording, it looks like, but released by different labels. My copy is multilingual (wherein my leaning would be original language, not English), but perhaps the later release by another group isn't and should be left in English.
I doubt I'll find anything on myspace about this little bot ;)

MBChatLogger says no.
2010-03-02 06134, 2010
KRSCuan
I'm not sure.

is this something I should ask on the style mailinglist?
2010-03-02 06108, 2010
brianfreud_
The AR is new, and that didn't come up in the discussion, so yes, I'd suggest it
2010-03-02 06128, 2010
MBChatLogger
We did it!
2010-03-02 06128, 2010
brianfreud_
Oh, btw, mbchatlogger: Did Bush invent TRM, or was that SCO? Any ideas how we can get Obama to make the US government all drop Microsoft Windows and Gracenote and use open source stuff? :D
aCiD2 didn't think YouTube auto transcribe could be so funny

navap
Did you watch part 2 of that video with the transciption on??
yeah, I'd like to pound out the annual report today, so I can focus on better things
2010-03-02 06146, 2010
alastairp
wos, that's impressive growth
2010-03-02 06159, 2010
alastairp
wow, too
2010-03-02 06150, 2010
ruaok
we keep doubling year over year.
2010-03-02 06100, 2010
ruaok
that's nice, healthy and maintainable growth.
2010-03-02 06104, 2010
ruaok
just the way I like it.
2010-03-02 06131, 2010
ruaok
but the damn, RDF WS won't die.
2010-03-02 06152, 2010
ruaok
still had 45M hits last year.
2010-03-02 06113, 2010
alastairp
that's crazy
2010-03-02 06122, 2010
nikki
I thought the ws was nearly all of the site hits?
2010-03-02 06128, 2010
Muz
I take it RDF is going bye bye with NGS?
2010-03-02 06133, 2010
alastairp
yeah
2010-03-02 06141, 2010
ruaok
in 2007 - 2009 it was: 53%, 51%, 60%
2010-03-02 06153, 2010
ruaok
but, this is hits, not pageviews.
2010-03-02 06156, 2010

2010-03-02 06103, 2010

so, hits include images and other silly things.
2010-03-02 06119, 2010
ruaok
so, as far as pages served, its probably closer to 90%
2010-03-02 06153, 2010

brianfreud_: in theory you can just put any art you want online, get archive.org to archive it and then link to that, so that's not a very good argument :P
2010-03-02 06155, 2010
nikki prods navap too
2010-03-02 06101, 2010
navap
I'm here.
2010-03-02 06118, 2010
brianfreud_
nikki: Hence why archive.org required ruoak to get legal clearance before it was allowed.
it was allowed long before we had official permission from them
2010-03-02 06140, 2010
brianfreud_
But there's a difference between an archive.org and a someRandomSiteIMade.info
2010-03-02 06105, 2010
navap
Not really. archive.org can be used to gain access to somerandomsiteimade.info
2010-03-02 06106, 2010
nikki
and we mostly deal with cover art by not storing it ourselves, if someone has a problem with someone having their cover art online, there's not much we can do because we don't host any of it
2010-03-02 06121, 2010
brianfreud_
navap: but then we're linking to archive.org, not someRandomSite.info
