Brings back memories of summer camp, we had a crazy bus driver who would blast the radio. He was the only one, no one else played the radio, and we got to listen to crazy stuff like Vengaboys :D

you checked the tags manually to see they're alright?
      • 2009-01-16 01651, 2009

      • rexroom
        although it only appears sporadically
      • 2009-01-16 01654, 2009

      • navap
Possibly one date is from one tag standard, one is from another?

        ID3v1 vs v2, or 2.3 vs 2.4
      • 2009-01-16 01639, 2009

      • navap
Do you have Picard clear existing tags before writing it's own?
      • 2009-01-16 01642, 2009

      • Wizzcat
where in the tags does the duplication occur though?
      • 2009-01-16 01602, 2009

      • rexroom
atm I don't have picard clear the existing tags
      • 2009-01-16 01628, 2009

      • rexroom
I don't know how it appears in the raw metadata
      • 2009-01-16 01639, 2009

      • rexroom
but all I know it appears twice in foobar
      • 2009-01-16 01607, 2009

      • rexroom
any good utility to check with? :P
      • 2009-01-16 01616, 2009

      • Wizzcat
fastest is just to check properties in fb2k, should tell you where it's coming from, but my guess is another tag is set as well so foobar uses both
      • 2009-01-16 01622, 2009

      • navap
Check the Properties tab in properties, to see if it has more then one tag type.
      • 2009-01-16 01630, 2009

      • rexroom
I'm using properties all the time
      • 2009-01-16 01600, 2009

      • navap
So go to the second tab, and look at what it says for Tag Type.
      • 2009-01-16 01618, 2009

      • rexroom
        like I said id3v2
      • 2009-01-16 01609, 2009

      • Muz
Does picard clear tags before it writes to the file?
      • 2009-01-16 01612, 2009

      • navap
        Try Mp3tag
      • 2009-01-16 01615, 2009

      • Muz
Or rather, have you got that set?
      • 2009-01-16 01631, 2009

there are actually THREE different dates mentioned
      • 2009-01-16 01636, 2009

      • rexroom
one is YEAR, second DATE and third RELEASETIME
      • 2009-01-16 01619, 2009

      • rexroom
hmm, what's the logic behind these
      • 2009-01-16 01637, 2009

      • navap
You have issues with different tag formats I think.
      • 2009-01-16 01632, 2009

      • navap
From what I've found out, there are two types of date formts. The date the song was RECORDED and the date it was RELEASED. For some reason, most players/writers use the RECORD tag for the date, even if they mean the release date.
      • 2009-01-16 01634, 2009

      • rexroom
well, there you have it anyway
