        Vengaboys - To Brazil :)
      • Muz
        Boom boom boom boom.
      • navap
        You missed the exclamation mark.
      • Muz
I don't want you in my room.
      • FauxFaux
        D:
      • So, uh, Muz, what're your plans for sleeping tonight?
      • Muz
        FauxFaux: sleeping?
      • Don't be silly.
      • FauxFaux
What're your plans for sleeping tomorrow night? :p
      • navap
Brings back memories of summer camp, we had a crazy bus driver who would blast the radio. He was the only one, no one else played the radio, and we got to listen to crazy stuff like Vengaboys :D
      • Muz
It's not like I was out until 2am drinking last night, woke up at 8am...
      • FauxFaux: sleeping?
      • Don't be silly.
      • FauxFaux
        <3
      • Muz
I'll probably nap on the train for an hour, and then that's it. Cock and red bull all weekend.
      • Cock and Red Balls.
      • FauxFaux
Relentless inferno is where it's at.
      • Muz
        That Relentless stuff tastes shite.
      • The cheap Tesco Kick isn't too bad actually.
      • FauxFaux
As silly as it sounds, I avoid it just for safety reasons. ¬_¬
      • rexroom
navap: at least you had variation, I had to listen to the same record - and occasionally same tune during the whole school trip to german
      • y
      • navap
        Good times :p
      • rexroom
hmm. weird. my mp3s have the dates mentioned twice
      • czaanja joined the channel
      • like this: 2000-06-07; 2000-06-07
      • I'm using foobar2000
      • navap
Are you using different programs to right dates?
      • Muz
Does the releases have multiple releases in different territories?
      • rexroom
        I'm using picard
      • and no
      • Wizzcat
fb2k likes my dates just fine :)
      • you checked the tags manually to see they're alright?
      • rexroom
        although it only appears sporadically
      • navap
Possibly one date is from one tag standard, one is from another?
      • rexroom
        yes
      • nope
      • I always have it so that it's only ID3v2
      • navap
        ID3v1 vs v2, or 2.3 vs 2.4
      • Do you have Picard clear existing tags before writing it's own?
      • Wizzcat
where in the tags does the duplication occur though?
      • rexroom
atm I don't have picard clear the existing tags
      • I don't know how it appears in the raw metadata
      • but all I know it appears twice in foobar
      • any good utility to check with? :P
      • Wizzcat
fastest is just to check properties in fb2k, should tell you where it's coming from, but my guess is another tag is set as well so foobar uses both
      • navap
Check the Properties tab in properties, to see if it has more then one tag type.
      • rexroom
I'm using properties all the time
      • navap
So go to the second tab, and look at what it says for Tag Type.
      • rexroom
        like I said id3v2
      • Muz
Does picard clear tags before it writes to the file?
      • navap
        Try Mp3tag
      • Muz
Or rather, have you got that set?
      • rexroom
        I said no
      • a-HA
      • there are actually THREE different dates mentioned
      • one is YEAR, second DATE and third RELEASETIME
      • hmm, what's the logic behind these
      • navap
You have issues with different tag formats I think.
      • From what I've found out, there are two types of date formts. The date the song was RECORDED and the date it was RELEASED. For some reason, most players/writers use the RECORD tag for the date, even if they mean the release date.
      • rexroom
well, there you have it anyway
      • brianfreud
luks: "there are rare cases when a single release has multiple labels/catalog numbers" <-- glad to see you remembered the Varese Sarabande problem! :) :)

superdicks, my machine totally fuxed, because it for the full hardrive
      • turns out 30 gigs just isn't enough
      • Wizzcat
30gb? is your computer either tiny or just really really old?
      • CatCat
        jerk
      • it was given t ome
      • itsa mac mini
      • Wizzcat
rexroom: I'm quite sure picard only sets date, year is probably left over from old tags
      • CatCat
my other machine *did* have 80 gigs, but that was an ME
      • Wizzcat
ah ok, guess it's a 1.6" drive then, those things don't get very big
      • CatCat
        yes
      • Wizzcat
        my laptop has the same
      • nikki
        external drive! :D

there's always second hand computer stores
      • Wizzcat
and 1.8" drives doubly so since nobody uses them anymore :|
      • brianfreud
ouch, ok, Googl's still spidering, but whatever they're spidering, this server's now stayed up for 14 hours or so - this just seems slow to me: [info] Request took 41.384532s (0.024/s)
      • rexroom
hmh. well, the extraneous date-tags disappear when I save them again in picard (even without the remove tags beforehand-option)
      • CatCat knows of no second hand computer stores

      • brianfreud can prob help mo with an ide drive, mo would just need something to put it in
      • FauxFaux
Probably costs more to ship than to buy.
      • Wizzcat
I have a slew of spare sata drives, but an enclosure is needed
      • they seem to cost ~150nok, so yeah
      • warp
        CatCat: yay!
      • CatCat: and newspaper thingy?
      • Muz
Err, Mac Mini's have normal sized drives, not 1.6
      • Wizzcat
        Muz: 2.5"? I certainly can't remember having seen any 3.5" 4200rpm drives
