luks mentioned mp3 being broken in it, but i didn't have problems until now where it just totally freaks out
      • 2007-08-13 22527, 2007

      • deadchip
it returns garbage unless i treat it "nicely" (read: with a workaround just for that)
      • 2007-08-13 22520, 2007

      • deadchip
what i've figured so far is it's not possible to access the generic Tag first, and then the ID3v2::Tag, or it will return garbg

He has some generic patches, the most important one is actual file-name support on windows. ;) https://code.launchpad.net/~taglib-developers/tag… iirc.

i'm not sure or rather have no idea how much you can "change" while still being real MPEG-4
      • 2007-08-13 22528, 2007

      • deadchip
i mean you can change the way you encode but the final file format can still be compliant MPEG-4
      • 2007-08-13 22542, 2007

      • deadchip
or, depending on how it's done, maybe not compliant anymore
      • 2007-08-13 22552, 2007

      • ruaok
        you'd be amazed.
      • 2007-08-13 22516, 2007

      • ruaok
you can create totally crappy sounding mp3 encoders/decoders that are fully compliant.

deadchip: you've got it backwards -- MPEG-4 was actually modeled on the QuickTime schema/structure. Microsoft has the MPEG-4 and AVI variants....
