YAUB died yesterday - ru didn't know how to fix it
      • cooperaa
        :P
      • dag yo
      • how can I figure out the upc then? google isnt helping me
      • Amblin- joined the channel
      • brianfreud
I've seen some sites online where I could play with ASINS in the urls to get upcs in the displays...
      • stochasticism joined the channel
      • cooperaa
        hm oh well
      • what did juggy change in the voting script?
      • 'sides colours
      • brianfreud
        added cancel (like approve)
      • cooperaa
hm, on my edits I assume :)
      • brianfreud
        yeah
      • like when you have a whole set you need to cancel
      • cooperaa
        sob, it killed FF
      • cool
      • brianfreud
hmmm, fun - I can access annotations just like ARs... :)
      • that'll come in handy
      • Amblin has quit
      • warp
        hello!
      • cooperaa
        hey warp
      • warp
brianfreud: hey, why did you change it to '!IdeaChampion' ?
      • cooperaa
Any idea what FS in "Just a Little Bit (rough mix including FS)" means?
      • warp
        no idea
      • cooperaa: have you seen my proposals thing btw?
      • there's a few of yours listed :)
      • cooperaa
yes, I think I updated it this morning
      • :)
      • warp
i don't see you in the page diff history thing
      • :(
      • cooperaa
I was at work, so it may have been just an IP
      • I added... umm subscription mails
      • warp
i only see brian, murdos, me and my ip.
      • please check if your changes made it in, because from what i can see, they didn't.
      • cooperaa
        damn
      • what page?
      • warp
      • cooperaa
        CurrentProposals?
      • ah /kuno/... :)
      • warp
it should probably move out of kuno/ now, but i'm not sure the current name is good enough for general usage.
      • cooperaa
yipes, might help if it were sorted :P
      • brianfreud
warp, cause IdeaChampion is a wikiword - and there's no such page
      • warp
it was sorted by date, but brian just added a whole bunch of wiki stuff.
      • brianfreud
so it showed up as ? IdeaChampion
      • warp
brianfreud: yes, that there is no such page doesn't mean there shouldn't be :)
      • brianfreud
!IdeaChampion tells moinmoin it's not a wikiword
      • :P
      • feel free to change it back, was just trying to get rid of the ?s
      • cooperaa
        (there are no ? marks...)
      • brianfreud
the OGLP (or whatever it is) one is annoying too - all the caps break normal moinmoin linking
      • warp
it's a reasonably well defined concept within MB imo, probably best described on http://wiki.musicbrainz.org/TurningYourIdeasInt...
      • brianfreud
figured you dredged the mailing list, I'd dredge the wiki :P
      • warp
and deserves (IMO), a page on its own, but there's more important stuff on the wiki to fix/edit atm
      • brianfreud
        agreed, and agreed
      • warp
brianfreud: yes, thanks! i've already noticed some cruft which i'd like to see cleaned up, like the hello project thing seems useful, nearly complete, but abandened by its IdeaChampion :)
      • brianfreud
        yeah
      • I saw the same thing - lots of just about done proposals, being treated forever as real ones, but never finalized
      • lots from just 2-4 months before the GreatDebate, looks like a lot kinda floundered in the aftermath
      • warp
i should go through the mb-users mailinglist too, that also seems to get RFCs/RFVs, even though that process is only described within the context for the StyleCouncil on the wiki.
      • s/for the/of the/
      • brianfreud
well, my favorite proposal is the proposal process proposal itself :P
      • warp
        haha
      • Jugdish
brianfreud/cooperaa: do you want the date or the release title to be highlighted if the release event is in the future?
      • brianfreud
I'd suggested perhaps that box that normally is peach
      • cooperaa
idunno, i expand by default so it doesn't matter
      • brianfreud
saves the release title for other uses, and the event cell doesn't show by default, but the peach one shows either way
      • (and is otherwise useless space)
      • Jugdish
the box that is normally peach? which is that?
      • brianfreud
the one under the editor/time/etc info
      • Jugdish
the thing off to the lft?
      • ok
      • brianfreud
        yeah
      • the empty one
      • it shows either way, might as well use it for something
      • Jugdish
so you only want it to operate on the vote page? not on release pages oranything?
      • brianfreud
I think just the vote page - though if you can get the script to work also on the inline voting, that'd be *excellent* :)
      • cooperaa
        do we really need this?
      • Jugdish
        hmmm
      • cooperaa
        I don't think I do
      • Jugdish
        need what?
      • brianfreud
        need? no
      • cooperaa
        highlighting pre-releases
      • Jugdish
it's a pretty simple script to do
      • brianfreud
be nice? yes - if nothing else, a prompt for us to add the annotation and such
      • cooperaa
I'd rather a way to search for releases added before their date
      • Jugdish
there something else you want me to be working on? :P
      • cooperaa
        ok...
      • how about highlight it if the release event is > today and there is no annotation
      • Jugdish
you can search by release date can't you?
      • brianfreud
also be helpful for when ppl add release events to existing releases, for future release info...
      • Jugdish: nop
      • cooperaa
        Jugdish: no you cannot :(
      • Jugdish
        lame
      • brianfreud
        yup
      • cooperaa
        very
      • brianfreud
see cooperaa and my emails in style :P
      • Jugdish
      • and you can use wildcards to get everything in a month: http://musicbrainz.org/search/textsearch.html?q...
      • cooperaa
        hm
      • wtf
      • okay, well a gui would be nice :)
      • brianfreud
hmmm, didn't realize you could do a date search like that
      • cooperaa
        neither did i
      • brianfreud
but still be nice when going through new add edits, seems to me a little extra effort is needed when verifying future releases
      • Jugdish
just could just do a search for all future releases, go through them, "Remove Release" :P
      • brianfreud
well, I don't know how others do it, but I tend to hit the ones with no note, and ignore the ones with some url for a 2nd pass - if there's time...
      • but if I saw one flagged red, I'd check it
      • Jugdish
how can you search for things that have no votes?
      • brianfreud
        manually
      • I just "no vote" the ones with notes
      • Jugdish
        ah
      • brianfreud
set all to no vote, find the 60%+ that have no notes, add note, switch to abstain
      • Jugdish
unfortunately no note != no vote sometimes :/
      • brianfreud
I do wish, though, that the release event add were separate from the add release edit
      • warp
        why?
      • brianfreud
I think I'm pretty harsh when it comes to finding any problems in the release itself, but when it comes to the events, I admit I'm not that great at spotting errors.
      • I could do a verification pass, and happily approve those that are fine (or have been fixed up) - but I hesitate to do so, and just vote yes, when there's events, as I don't know that I've not missed something
      • warp
i don't know any of this day of the week stuff, and think i should
      • brianfreud
        exactly
      • just not my strong suit
      • cooperaa
        USA = Tuesday
      • warp
but will probably notice weird catalog no#s for labels i know.
      • brianfreud
or even the multi-event adds, be nice if each were its own edit
      • cooperaa
        UK = Monday or Wed
      • brianfreud
        warp: exactly
      • warp
        cooperaa: japan? korea? netherlands?
      • cooperaa
        psh, idunno
      • brianfreud
throw me a Varese Sarabande or Colloseum release, sure, I can spot wierdness. But "is this the right Sony/BMG/etc?" nope
      • cooperaa
        Wed/Fri?
      • warp
        brianfreud: oh yes... brrr :S
      • cooperaa
        (not Tuesday) hehe
      • brianfreud
just too many variations in events for any one person to be an expert on them all - but the release itself is easier for anyone to verify without such specific knowledge
      • hence make the add edit separate from the associated release event edit
      • cooperaa
did you both respond to my subscription mail improving RFC this morning?
      • brianfreud
        I did
      • cooperaa
        k good, warp?
      • warp
cooperaa: in a related discussion i already confessed to not using, nor not needing, the subscription mail.
      • cooperaa
        ah okay
      • warp
cooperaa: i just want the subscription link on the site to work
      • Jugdish
where's the wiki page with suggestions?
      • cooperaa
        :) alright
      • Jugdish: did you respond?
      • brianfreud
on events, also, I see people working on labels checking event edits - but they forget the edits for those labels where the events are contained in add edits. Also a good reason to split the two edits
