figured you dredged the mailing list, I'd dredge the wiki :P

warp
and deserves (IMO), a page on its own, but there's more important stuff on the wiki to fix/edit atm
2007-08-21 23320, 2007
brianfreud
agreed, and agreed
2007-08-21 23326, 2007

brianfreud: yes, thanks! i've already noticed some cruft which i'd like to see cleaned up, like the hello project thing seems useful, nearly complete, but abandened by its IdeaChampion :)
2007-08-21 23347, 2007
brianfreud
yeah
2007-08-21 23315, 2007
brianfreud
I saw the same thing - lots of just about done proposals, being treated forever as real ones, but never finalized
2007-08-21 23308, 2007
brianfreud
lots from just 2-4 months before the GreatDebate, looks like a lot kinda floundered in the aftermath
2007-08-21 23348, 2007
warp
i should go through the mb-users mailinglist too, that also seems to get RFCs/RFVs, even though that process is only described within the context for the StyleCouncil on the wiki.

s/for the/of the/
2007-08-21 23313, 2007
brianfreud
well, my favorite proposal is the proposal process proposal itself :P
2007-08-21 23318, 2007
warp
haha

Jugdish
brianfreud/cooperaa: do you want the date or the release title to be highlighted if the release event is in the future?
2007-08-21 23346, 2007
brianfreud
I'd suggested perhaps that box that normally is peach
2007-08-21 23358, 2007
cooperaa
idunno, i expand by default so it doesn't matter
2007-08-21 23310, 2007
brianfreud
saves the release title for other uses, and the event cell doesn't show by default, but the peach one shows either way
2007-08-21 23326, 2007
brianfreud
(and is otherwise useless space)
2007-08-21 23330, 2007
Jugdish
the box that is normally peach? which is that?
2007-08-21 23347, 2007
brianfreud
the one under the editor/time/etc info
2007-08-21 23350, 2007
Jugdish
the thing off to the lft?
2007-08-21 23352, 2007
Jugdish
ok
2007-08-21 23353, 2007
brianfreud
yeah
2007-08-21 23358, 2007
brianfreud
the empty one
2007-08-21 23310, 2007
brianfreud
it shows either way, might as well use it for something
2007-08-21 23322, 2007
Jugdish
so you only want it to operate on the vote page? not on release pages oranything?
2007-08-21 23350, 2007
brianfreud
I think just the vote page - though if you can get the script to work also on the inline voting, that'd be *excellent* :)
2007-08-21 23318, 2007
cooperaa
do we really need this?
2007-08-21 23319, 2007
Jugdish
hmmm
2007-08-21 23325, 2007
cooperaa
I don't think I do
2007-08-21 23329, 2007
Jugdish
need what?
2007-08-21 23331, 2007
brianfreud
need? no
2007-08-21 23337, 2007
cooperaa
highlighting pre-releases
2007-08-21 23347, 2007
Jugdish
it's a pretty simple script to do
2007-08-21 23349, 2007
brianfreud
be nice? yes - if nothing else, a prompt for us to add the annotation and such
2007-08-21 23350, 2007
cooperaa
I'd rather a way to search for releases added before their date
2007-08-21 23357, 2007
Jugdish
there something else you want me to be working on? :P
2007-08-21 23303, 2007
cooperaa
ok...
2007-08-21 23328, 2007
cooperaa
how about highlight it if the release event is > today and there is no annotation
2007-08-21 23330, 2007
Jugdish
you can search by release date can't you?
2007-08-21 23333, 2007
brianfreud
also be helpful for when ppl add release events to existing releases, for future release info...
hmmm, didn't realize you could do a date search like that
2007-08-21 23347, 2007
cooperaa
neither did i
2007-08-21 23357, 2007
brianfreud
but still be nice when going through new add edits, seems to me a little extra effort is needed when verifying future releases
2007-08-21 23349, 2007
Jugdish
just could just do a search for all future releases, go through them, "Remove Release" :P
2007-08-21 23349, 2007
brianfreud
well, I don't know how others do it, but I tend to hit the ones with no note, and ignore the ones with some url for a 2nd pass - if there's time...
2007-08-21 23358, 2007
brianfreud
but if I saw one flagged red, I'd check it
2007-08-21 23308, 2007
Jugdish
how can you search for things that have no votes?
2007-08-21 23315, 2007
brianfreud
manually
2007-08-21 23330, 2007
brianfreud
I just "no vote" the ones with notes
2007-08-21 23355, 2007
Jugdish
ah
2007-08-21 23320, 2007
brianfreud
set all to no vote, find the 60%+ that have no notes, add note, switch to abstain
2007-08-21 23320, 2007
Jugdish
unfortunately no note != no vote sometimes :/
2007-08-21 23358, 2007
brianfreud
I do wish, though, that the release event add were separate from the add release edit
2007-08-21 23317, 2007
warp
why?
2007-08-21 23342, 2007
brianfreud
I think I'm pretty harsh when it comes to finding any problems in the release itself, but when it comes to the events, I admit I'm not that great at spotting errors.
2007-08-21 23319, 2007
brianfreud
I could do a verification pass, and happily approve those that are fine (or have been fixed up) - but I hesitate to do so, and just vote yes, when there's events, as I don't know that I've not missed something
2007-08-21 23327, 2007
warp
i don't know any of this day of the week stuff, and think i should
2007-08-21 23334, 2007
brianfreud
exactly
2007-08-21 23339, 2007

but will probably notice weird catalog no#s for labels i know.
2007-08-21 23357, 2007
brianfreud
or even the multi-event adds, be nice if each were its own edit
2007-08-21 23300, 2007
cooperaa
UK = Monday or Wed
2007-08-21 23304, 2007

2007-08-21 23328, 2007
warp
cooperaa: japan? korea? netherlands?
2007-08-21 23332, 2007
cooperaa
psh, idunno
2007-08-21 23333, 2007
brianfreud
throw me a Varese Sarabande or Colloseum release, sure, I can spot wierdness. But "is this the right Sony/BMG/etc?" nope
2007-08-21 23336, 2007
cooperaa
Wed/Fri?
2007-08-21 23348, 2007
warp
brianfreud: oh yes... brrr :S
2007-08-21 23350, 2007
cooperaa
(not Tuesday) hehe
2007-08-21 23323, 2007
brianfreud
just too many variations in events for any one person to be an expert on them all - but the release itself is easier for anyone to verify without such specific knowledge
2007-08-21 23342, 2007
brianfreud
hence make the add edit separate from the associated release event edit
2007-08-21 23353, 2007
cooperaa
did you both respond to my subscription mail improving RFC this morning?
2007-08-21 23304, 2007
brianfreud
I did
2007-08-21 23309, 2007
cooperaa
k good, warp?
2007-08-21 23327, 2007

cooperaa: in a related discussion i already confessed to not using, nor not needing, the subscription mail.

2007-08-21 23351, 2007

2007-08-21 23353, 2007
cooperaa
:) alright
2007-08-21 23300, 2007
cooperaa
Jugdish: did you respond?
2007-08-21 23300, 2007
brianfreud
on events, also, I see people working on labels checking event edits - but they forget the edits for those labels where the events are contained in add edits. Also a good reason to split the two edits
