Well, I try to vote right - and I figure, at least if I vote and my vote is wrong, it's better that someone looked at something once, than all the releases I see slip in with no votes for their entire time in the queue
      • Aankhen`` joined the channel
      • warp
wienna: well, yes votes are less important,.. edits go through without them anyway
      • wienna: but make sure you vote no and ask for details on those edits which seem dodgy :)
      • wienna: you can always change your vote back to yes if the mod provides proof or convincing arguments for his/her mod.
      • BrianFreud
or vote abstain and ask for the same
      • warp
depends on how dodgy the edit is :)
      • wienna
yeah, well i try to do that :)
      • BrianFreud
        exactly :)
      • wienna
but I like the edditing part better
      • :D
      • BrianFreud
lol, so do we all I think
      • though it seems I tend to get into groups, where I'm normally voting on the edits by the same people who normally are voting on mine
      • unless I purposefully go searching for edits that are "out of the box"
      • warp
        BrianFreud: sounds pretty normal.
      • BrianFreud: I expect they listen to music somewhat similar to your taste.
      • BrianFreud
yeah, though what I don't get is, ok, it seems the inline voting pulls votes from "similar artists" only. I can easily get that queue empty, and normally do. But when that queue runs dry, why does it just stop showing edits, instead of presenting me with some of the other 10k edits needing votes?
      • warp
BrianFreud: iirc it either picks up edits from your subscribed list, or the artist you're viewing.
      • luks
BrianFreud: only autoeditors have that option
      • warp
        luks: hm?
      • BrianFreud
well, I'm not subscribed to say, Metallica, but I see those edits up there all the time
      • luks
mostly because new people were randomly voting no on edits
      • BrianFreud
that's why I figured it was "similar artists"
      • luks
        so it was disabled
      • warp
        luks: i'm not an autoeditor.
      • BrianFreud
I'd love to be able to add in seeing, say, the normal + freedb add edits
      • warp
or only autoeditors have the option to see _all_ open edits there?
      • luks
warp: and you have only edits for subscribed artists in the iframe, right?
      • BrianFreud
        no
      • warp
luks: yes, sorry.. i thought you meant the whole inline voting thing in general.
      • luks
in preferences I have [ ] Show inline edits. [ ] Show random inline edits.
      • I guess non-autoeditors have only the first one
      • warp nods.
      • BrianFreud
I only have the first - but I see more than subscribed. I see subscribed and similar.
      • luks
        hmm
      • BrianFreud
oops, the 2nd, not the 1st
      • warp nominates BrianFreud for autoeditor.
      • BrianFreud doesn't want it yet
      • lol
      • warp
        :)
      • warp shakes his cane at windows server 2003
      • BrianFreud
too easy to screw up... :P
      • warp ,why? I love/hate my w2k3 :P
      • does what I want it to, rots my IT abilities at the same time :)
      • warp
BrianFreud: this time it doesn't accept remote desktop connections after reboot (and i'm not physically near the machine, so it's annoying).
      • BrianFreud
        oooh, fun
      • warp
oh well, outlook web access is running, so i assume the most important services are running.
      • i'd just feel better if i could log in and have a look... ;)
      • BrianFreud
        no web enabled status monitors?
      • warp
hm, it doesn't really do much else important :)
      • well, DC and DNS, but ppl don't need that until they come into work tomorrow, and i'm usually the first anyway.
      • next time i'll switch jobs i'll get something which doesn't involve windows :)
      • BrianFreud
man the style list is active today... 5 digests already. Normally see one every day or two...
      • warp
ah, i don't subscribe to the digests.
      • just easier to get real mail and kill entire threads i'm not interested in with mutt
      • ojnkpjg
i read a lot of email with ^D
      • BrianFreud
ugh, too many emails in non-digest, to hard to get gmail to keep it clean
      • any classical editors around at the moment?
      • warp
        ojnkpjg :)
      • yllona
        BrianFreud: yes, what's your question
      • BrianFreud
        Hi yllona :)
      • Can you take a look at edit 6819037?
      • yllona
        can you post url please
      • BrianFreud
        sure, 1 sec
      • yllona
        BrianFreud: superstrings powerstep mix????
      • BrianFreud
that's why I wanted to point it out... The name doesn't scream classical, yet that's actually what it is
      • yllona
four seasons - spring is vivaldi
      • BrianFreud
        and he misspelled "saesons"
      • warp
that's a very peculiar artist name
      • yllona
        rodeo (hoe-down) is aaron copland
      • BrianFreud
I don't know the classical style guide... how ought this to be fixed?
      • yllona
o fortuna is carl orff (from carmina burana)
      • warp
The Fout Seasons <-- misspelled on his proof link :)
      • yllona
claire de lune is typically debussy
      • it should be "various artists"
      • BrianFreud
proof link says it's pieces from "Beethoven, Mozart, Chopin, Vivaldi and Debussy" so that prob is the Debussy one
      • warp
s/he added that japanese artist for this release.
      • yllona
track 5 "rodeo" is aaron copland from applachian spring
      • BrianFreud
Is this mess worth voting yes and fixing?
      • yllona
BrianFreud: i don't have time. you could send a note to the submitter, with links to the guidelines
      • BrianFreud
Ok, sounds good. Just figured this one would be missed by most of the classical editors, with the screwy name and such
      • warp
haha, i like the artist image for that at last.fm: http://tinyurl.com/37qapl
      • yllona
it's a "various artists" release according to the classical guidelines (not that i always agree with the classical guidelines)
      • Dhraakellian joined the channel
      • warp
'さまざまなアーティスト' translates to various artists according to babelfish.
      • Dhraakellian
when using Picard for tagging, is it possible to choose between release events?
      • ojnkpjg
Dhraakellian, right now, only if you add the albums via the links on label pages
      • Dhraakellian
ojnkpjg: I'll look into trying that
      • HairMetalAddict has quit
      • hmm
      • Picard (Qt) is still showing the first release date
      • hmm... and it's really hard to see the match percent in PicardQt when the path/filename is really long
      • warp
ojnkpjg: o_O you mean using the tagger buttons on label pages somehow loads different data for an album into picard?
      • Dhraakellian
it doesn't seem to work like that for me
      • warp
yeah, seemed strange to me too. i think picard will always just pick the oldest date.
      • Dhraakellian: seems like a valid complaint, please talk to luks if he's around, or just enter an enhancement request in the bug tracker.
      • luks
I hate this.. I have the label, EAN, but I can't find the year so I can't add the release event :/
      • warp
        luks: aw :S
      • luks
does anybody see something that looks like a year on http://i.israel-music.com/b/09162125_b.jpg ?
      • Dhraakellian
        to blurry
      • Kerensky97
yllona: it's a "various artists" release according to the classical guidelines (not that i always agree with the classical guidelines) <---HaHa, that because the artist is "various artist" in japanese.
      • BrianFreud
hmmm, you have a upc... let me try something
      • ech, worthless upc database info
      • lol
      • luks
        I think I'll just go and guess it's 2006 :)
      • Kerensky97
oh warp said the same thing
      • Kerensky97 finally catches up reading in irc
      • BrianFreud
luks: that one doesn't come up in the upc database, but the 2 others from that company that do show 2004
      • Dhraakellian
luks: how does Picard choose between release events? Does it just go with the earliest one listed?
      • luks
Dhraakellian: when loading album from the label page, it should choose the selected release event
      • aCiD2
Ok, may as well get some feedback before my first commit - how is http://86.128.149.163/ looking?
      • Got a bit to go before that page is complete mind
      • Dhraakellian
luks: didn't seem to work for me
      • the tagger links for the Schumann album open in Picard with the release date for the DG release event
      • luks
        "worksforme"
      • Dhraakellian
        hmm
      • luks
        oh, wait
      • Dhraakellian
would the fact that I already tagged the files a little while ago have anything to do with it?
      • luks
the Schumann's albums don't have catnumbers
      • Dhraakellian
        okay
      • luks
ok, I obviously need a better identifier
      • Dhraakellian
I just put the years in based on the © info on the CD itself
      • dunno where to find the other information
      • or indeed which information would be from the original DG and which is from MHS
      • luks
        aCiD2: first mistake :)
      • aCiD2
        Where?
      • cmunx joined the channel
      • luks
never modify admin/startup.pl.default if you really don't need it
      • BrianFreud
looks good aCiD2 :) Perhaps it me though - the sidebar on the right seems a bit wide in comparison to the sidebar on the left

      • it's in my player :D
      • Jugdish
umm, which amazon store do you use for a release that was released in "Europe"?
      • catgroove
not more fucked up than other stuff :D
