not really for two reasons: 1) lst.fm is based in london, tho they still have to pay fees to play music 2) last.fm has a much stronger music licensing team than pandora

so the the new fee schedule has been postponed until July, and there is new legislation before congress even as we speak

well..the way i hear it, if it goes thru it will be the end of pandora (and a few others i like, like WOXY)

to be honest, the internet radio stations had ample time to prepare for this. the current fee schedule was well-known to be temporary/experimental when it was established five years

still i'm happy last.fm will continue (not to mention streams from BBC6 :-)

yep, lots of the framework for this stuff was set when the internet was opened to the public in 1992/1993

and the various fee & usage schedules were established in 1997/98. everyone got a big break for a few years because broadband didn't spread as rapidly as expected in the US.

so there's no way in hell that this came as a surprise

i was listening to the radio...but i turned it off
