I think I said to you the other night that I'm new, so all I know is that they've been there for longer than a month.

And you should just edit the ones you've already entered but I guess that's what you meant.

yeah, maybe others can say something :)

Label Codes you add from the label page

BTW, I didn't realize until a few days ago that PicardQT can generate PUIDs. Isn't that supposed to be impossible?
2007-06-03 15445, 2007
muz
It analyzes and matches it up to an existing PUID on MIP's servers iirc
2007-06-03 15458, 2007
muz
If the puid doesn't already exist on the MIP server, picard'll do shit all
2007-06-03 15438, 2007
SerialNumber
Yeah, but wasn't there legal troubles against generating PUIDs?
2007-06-03 15452, 2007
SerialNumber
Because PicardQT is open source, PUID generation not, or something?
2007-06-03 15424, 2007
BrianFreud
muz: sortof - If the PUID isn't on the MB server, but one has previously been generated by an analysis run at MusicIP, QT can do a fingerprint run on the file and get the PUID from MusicIP
2007-06-03 15453, 2007
BrianFreud
But if MusicIP hasn't ever analysed that file to generate a PUID, QT can't generate one itself
should it be added as LC-00000 or without the LC- ?
2007-06-03 15450, 2007
Citizen
i guess without...
2007-06-03 15403, 2007

I think it's mentioned in the info, check that.
2007-06-03 15411, 2007

without - the system adds the LC
2007-06-03 15445, 2007

hmm... but I can't provide any web source for the number, i've just taken it from a CD

Put "Liner notes" and check the label's web site.
2007-06-03 15427, 2007

I wonder if Discogs has them...
2007-06-03 15457, 2007

no information at the label's website

liner notes? is my english this bad? i would say, it means 'pen notes'

Liner notes are the text in the album's booklet/covers
2007-06-03 15452, 2007
SerialNumber
At least I use it for covers as well, easier to just mindlessly type "liner notes + (url)" :)
2007-06-03 15454, 2007
BrianFreud
yes, the cover and other paper stuff in the CD = liner
2007-06-03 15409, 2007
SerialNumber
Discogs had nothing on them, appears that you're just going to have to put "liner notes".

*nothing on the LC
2007-06-03 15459, 2007
BrianFreud
perhaps a bad assumption to make, but I normally assume anyone who enters a LC knows enough about what they're doing to have checked it from liner notes or some such place
2007-06-03 15416, 2007
BrianFreud
So "liner notes" in the edit notes normally works for me
It was changed to "Lyndale's", which is grammatically correct, but the actual cover says "Lyndales". It's a bootleg so there isn't really any artist intent
I kinda wanna change it back to "Lyndales" but I'm not really sure

Also, if an album is released on vinyl and then converted to CD, with a bunch of identical versions, and they all have different titles, should they all be the same Release?

for the moment, I'd just settle for the last 5000 tracks I have that aren't in the database being cleaned up
2007-06-03 15414, 2007

dholmes good luck, but i doubt you can ever achieve this goal...
