For the official ones, each band seems to have a different standard being used, depending on who's cleaned it up and what the subscribers for that band have decided on
2007-06-01 15235, 2007
cooperaa
oh so official concert recordings
2007-06-01 15242, 2007
BrianFreud
yeag
2007-06-01 15252, 2007
BrianFreud
like that Metallica official one I'd thought was bootleg, remember?
i would say that a section needs to be added to LBS instead for these "Instant Live" type stuff
2007-06-01 15227, 2007
BrianFreud
problem is, "Bootleg" specifically excludes these
2007-06-01 15229, 2007
cooperaa
the only difference should be Official/Bootleg
2007-06-01 15243, 2007
BrianFreud
LiveOfficialStyle?
2007-06-01 15250, 2007
cooperaa
no
2007-06-01 15252, 2007
drsaunde
yes but it will still be the same style
2007-06-01 15256, 2007
BrianFreud
rather, LiveOfficialStyles?
2007-06-01 15215, 2007
cooperaa
the only difference in the releases will be the release status (Official or Bootleg)
2007-06-01 15223, 2007
drsaunde
should be a part of LBS for simplicity as the style is already laid out
2007-06-01 15225, 2007
BrianFreud
drsaude: To a great extent, yes... but you get things slightly different, like Pearl Jam, who numbered each show
2007-06-01 15239, 2007
cooperaa
pearl jam is silly
2007-06-01 15251, 2007
drsaunde
then that would be included as part of the title then and thats covered in that style
2007-06-01 15258, 2007
BrianFreud
I figure it's not really a style guideline as much as a central listing for bands doing official recordings, so we have some sort of reference out there
2007-06-01 15205, 2007
cooperaa
I don't think we should start making a list of exceptions to rules..,

It's not really exceptions, it's more a list of extentions to the LBS rules
ugh, do we seriously need the "concert recording number" on pearl jam releases?
2007-06-01 15204, 2007
drsaunde
creating a "list" of said artists seems like a meaningless waste of time IMHO
2007-06-01 15220, 2007
ojnkpjg
it amazes me that people actually buy those CDs
2007-06-01 15239, 2007

drsaunde: Well, take the Metallica one I was adding. I had no idea it wasn't a bootleg, til cooperaa pointed out Met now was doing official releases
2007-06-01 15251, 2007

i have 1..the pixies reunion show I went to....that I had to wait 10 months from ticket purchase to show date
2007-06-01 15227, 2007

and no...i don't really ever listen to it..more for nostalgia

I'm not a big Pixies fan, but I gather they have "PixieDiscs" which are CD concerts, plus the site drsaunde linked to has Pixie show downloads

Brian: not a download...instant live...show recording available on cd after the show
2007-06-01 15215, 2007
ojnkpjg
they also kind of ruined new albums because there was never anything they hadn't previously played live
2007-06-01 15217, 2007

ojnkpjg: same for me a few years ago (met boots) but now I'm back into it cuz I love hearing the songs

drsaunde: Same category to me... insta-cds, mailed cds, mp3 show downloads, just a media difference :P

2007-06-01 15249, 2007

cooperaa: exactly. Hence why a list like this might help other people avoid errors like that
2007-06-01 15257, 2007
cooperaa
no one will find the wiki page :)
2007-06-01 15211, 2007

i heard a couple of radiohead bootlegs from the netherlands around when they released that live cd that were noticeably better than the official release

Backlinks in artist annotations are easy if the page already exists :)
2007-06-01 15222, 2007

2007-06-01 15239, 2007

why not put a note (like I did on the Metallica page)
2007-06-01 15200, 2007

because that's going to get the same "publicity" that a link to Wiki from the annotation will
2007-06-01 15205, 2007

Well, with all the other "series" wiki pages Elliott's creating, I figured this was a decent one to add :P

not sure who Fathead is... It's the same DN who scored a lot of other soundtracks around then
2007-06-01 15203, 2007

Fathead is a jazz saxophonist..known for work with Ray Charles...but has done lots of stuff..probably not him tho
2007-06-01 15219, 2007

I doubt it then - it's mostly an orchestral score

Hi. I've set up a development server. I can read the db using psqll, can launch the webserver, can search vla lucent .But I can never seem to get data for, e.g. artists. So a search for tom waits yields his relationships but says This artist has no releases. I think it may be a read permission problem with postgres but I'm really not sure. Any hints? Is this kind of stuff logged somewhere by mb_server?

I would like to add a bootleg and there are some tracks that contain two or three songs, sort of medley - how to name those tracks? title1 / title2 / and so on?
