is there a way to install picard-qt in ubuntu gutsy?

There certainly is

I wonder if you can just add the feisty musicbrainz repositories and have it work?

If not, you should be able to download the source and build that, and download the necessary dependencies from apt

there are some dependency issues..... libavcodec0d whereas gutsy has libavcodec1d, for one

Figured it out, Picard (on Ubuntu 7.10) needs libtunepimp-mp3 for it to work

that should be a dependency or recommended/suggested package at least

it can't be dependency

Well, after installing that package it works

no, picard is in universe anyway

but there is a mismatch between main and universe repositories for libtunepimp

(because of the mp3 support in main)

I'va also got a request: In the files list, it would be nice if the CTRL+A "select all" would work.

I've not gotten registering mail for the forums, so could someone go to http://forums.musicbrainz.org/viewtopic.php?pid... and post that on Ubuntu 7.10 installing package libtunepimp-mp3 is sufficient for Picard to work.

the disc 2 has more titles yes, groupings of the tracks, true, titles, disc titles, we need tracks segmentals and gruopins

yeah.. thus my very personal opinion that substituting lack of advanced features with innacurate data is a silly approach
