I used it for a few recordings - lousy medium for recordings. Lossy compression on the recording, and unless you spent a few thousand for a real high end transfer machine, only way to transfer the audio out was AAD, no DDD, even though the recording on the MD was digital.

The more I look at edits, the more I think the manditory edit note idea would be decent to consider. YEah people would game it with junk text, but at least they'd have no reason to think it ok to make edits w/o some note...

like "amazon lists it as an import even though it isn't"

So add release edits ought to be required to show some sign they exist, rather than later some other editor cleaning things up having to spend hours trying to make sure some obscure release does NOT exist

if some reales that doesnt actually exsist is in the database.. its not that bad

It takes 30 seconds on most releases you could add to find a source showing it exists. Can take much much longer to prove it doesn't later.

oh, and I often don't leave notes on my edits, it depends how easy to find I think the info is

i wants to seperate my ubs list, into "was subbed casue i made it" "is insterested" "is so borked" and "i thoguhtthis name sounded funny"

just thinking that, even if we try to get people voting more, we still end up leaving a lot of "Why?" and "Source please?" notes

the vast majority of non-existant releases are imports from freedb, there's still loads kicking about that were auto imported years ago

if you look at the stats most of the open edits are adding ARs, and most ARs are no-brain yes votes

if you condensed the add AR edits to one edit per release, instead of multiple per AR (like adding play guitar on 20 tracks creates 20 edits) that would shrink the vote queue right down

So if Sally Jane is a soprano, when someone sets a vocal AR for bass for her, it's flagged. If Tom Smith plays trumpet and harmonica, when someone sets him playing the cello, it's flagged, etc

it bothers me that the most common edit type is add relationship, but I can't filter out the ones I'll vote on

I rarely vote on liner note stuff, but wikipedia links and amazon and stuff are easy
