Yeah, that's probably valid enough for an submission. [Even though I personally hate bootleg-entries in MB :) ]
      • drsaunde
bootlegs formatted and marked as bootlegs don't bother me
      • warp
we have a bootleg type, bootlegs are fine in MB.
      • drsaunde
its the ones that are marked "album - official" that get to me
      • petros
I know, I just don't like it. I'm not that into nougat either.
      • warp
        drsaunde: haha, obviously :)
      • petros
I'm not going to make it an issue, but I have a dream about a bootleg-MB offspring and having bigsister-MB be about 'proper' releases. :)
      • gioele
I do not: music is music. Music is not more music because it is officially sanctioned
      • petros
I agree that bootlegs are music. I just find them so messy and discrepant that they annoys me.
      • You have seven entries of the same bootleg because bootleggers bootleg bootleggers, et cetera
      • Just with different titles.
      • messy. Like mudwrestling with really hairy boars
      • conan
when I add an album the auto classificatino is quite slow. maybe 15 - 20 seconds per song in some cases.
      • is that usual?
      • I'm just dragging folers into the unmatched folder
      • gioele
auto classification? Once you drop a file in the unmatched folder it should take 1-3 seconds for it to appear
      • ah, is auto classification automatic fingerprinting?
      • conan
        yeah think so
      • gioele
yes, that takes longer, but not longer than 2 seconds for minute of song
      • conan
I'm just taking bunches of mp3s of my old archive drive
      • for instance I just dragged charlatans wonderland
      • in the end it was just faster to drag files across manually, after it found the manual
      • gioele
maybe there are multiple threads doing the fingerprinting, so it seems that it is taking longer
      • conan
        no idea
      • now sure how I tell what its doing

I just "got" it and haven't listened yet. Although I'm wondering if her sales will be as good after here little gaff on the Japanese talk shows.
      • warp
        no idea about that.
      • (i bought the korean version because it was cheaper :)
      • oddly enough, the packaging only has kanji/kana on the back, even for LAST ANGEL, which is a collaboration with a korean boy band >_<
      • Kerensky97
She got suspended for saying something like "all women over 35 have rotten amniotic fluid so they're useless for having kids" or something like that; and even Japan's family values of all women being married before 30 people were pissed. But I'm not sure if her CD sales were halted or just her public appearances.
      • mudcrow joined the channel
      • warp
Kerensky97: i don't think CD sales were halted. from what I read, just some promotion got cancelled. among those a deal with some cosmetics company.

warp: So I can answer, what are the *2* different definitions, as you see them?
      • nikki
        two definitions of what?
      • warp
BrianFreudf: I've complained about it often enough, you really should know ;)
      • BrianFreudf: the one on StylePrinciple is completely different from the one on ConsistentOriginalData itself.
      • BrianFreudf: I think the one on StylePrinciple is what was originally intended for ConsistentOriginalData. the one on the page seems a different idea.
      • BrianFreudf
        What definition on Style Principle?
      • this? If, however, something is consistently labelled in a different style on official sources, then this classifies as ConsistentOriginalData
      • warp
        yes.
      • BrianFreudf
        I don't think it contradicts.
      • The other definition is: "If no definite proof can be found for the correct spelling/punctuation, the most common version of the track title is to be used."
      • warp
        i'm not saying it contradicts.
      • i'm saying it's two seperate things.
      • BrianFreudf
'on official sources' would seem to provide 'definite proof'
      • warp
'the most common' is implies the data is NOT consistent. whereas the data being consistent on official sources is a requirement for the definition on StylePrinciple.
      • they're two different guidelines, we use both of them in day-to-day musicbrainz editting. but it would be so much better if we could give them two different names.
      • BrianFreudf
I think that sentence on SP misphrases COD - it's really talking about AI, not COD
      • warp
        no, it's not about AI
      • BrianFreudf
'something is consistently labelled in a different style on official sources' != AI?
      • warp
official sources is more like publishers intent :)
      • BrianFreudf
meh, in that reading, that sentence of SP is officially bork - we override any "Label Intent" by applying just about any guideline
      • warp
in general, you can claim to infer AI from consistently labeled sources, yes. but if the artist claims something else in an interview, that is actual AI, which trumps ConsistentOriginalData according to the StylePrinciple.
      • BrianFreudf
        ok
      • CatCat
        like the fok
      • liek the foxey vs foxy thing
      • BrianFreudf
My take on SP though is that the top part is the 'official' bit - so "If neither 1 nor 2 are applicable, use ConsistentOriginalData." The lower half I take as a 'common translation, but not official'
      • CatCat
oioi ive totallyfux0red my sleep squedule
      • i woke up this time yesterday
      • warp
BrianFreudf: I take both sections as official.
