which id3 version does windows explorer show info for?
      • 2008-06-11 16314, 2008

      • xRNx
i have some songs that windows explorer is showing blank for duration and "0" for bitrate
      • 2008-06-11 16319, 2008

      • xRNx
        but they play in wmp
      • 2008-06-11 16327, 2008

      • FauxFaux
xRNx: id3v2.3 utf-16 if it exists, otherwise id3v1 (I'm working on http://taglibhandler.sourceforge.net/, read only, Vista only so far)
      • 2008-06-11 16306, 2008

      • xRNx
i removed the tags with mp3tag, scanned them with picard, and saved the tags, still same thing
      • 2008-06-11 16307, 2008

      • FauxFaux
Duration and bitrate aren't in the tags, they're properties of the file; it must think the file is damaged, haven't seen that. :/
      • 2008-06-11 16327, 2008

      • FauxFaux
Go find an mp3 verifier (I've used mp3packer) and see if it works after that?
      • 2008-06-11 16327, 2008

      • xRNx
at first, wmp wouldn't play them, so i removed tags and tagged from filename with mp3tag, now they play but show no tag info in explorer
      • 2008-06-11 16359, 2008

      • xRNx
        do u have a link to mp3packer?
      • 2008-06-11 16303, 2008

      • FauxFaux
The default Windows stuff is pretty resiliant wrt. /playing/ files ime, are you sure you've not done something silly?
      • 2008-06-11 16341, 2008

      • xRNx
yeah, they played fine in wmp a while back when i got the songs, just now recently they won't play
      • 2008-06-11 16303, 2008

      • xRNx
only thing i can think that i did was retagged all my files with classic tagger not too long ago

some of my other files had the same problem, but showed the info fine in explorer after i used mp3tag to clear tags then re-tag from filename
