        canidae: W00t!
      • lauri
haha, i was watching it :)
      • zoke
yes, I have been working on that list
      • Freso
        lauri: I wasn't... :p
      • lauri: Now, let's see if that jesus dude even realises that there has been a merge... :p
      • zoke
but I think some of the TOC's are incorrect, because for releases that already had track times in them, they don't add up to the toc from cdbaby
      • BrianFreud
        minorly, or majorly?
      • zoke
        minorly
      • lauri_ joined the channel
      • lauri, are you going to work on that list ?
      • BrianFreud
minor I wouldn't worry about too much... major on the other hand :P
      • lauri_
        zoke: if you don't mind
      • i am easily distracted though, there'll be plenty for you to do
      • BrianFreud
maybe one of you work up from the bottom instead?
      • lauri_
        that's the plan :)
      • i'll probably sidetrack and import other albums by the artists if i can manage
      • cos i do so like this wee script
      • yllona
        laterz folks ..
      • lauri_
        'night yllona
      • BrianFreud
        natta yllona
      • yllona
        c'ya lauri and BrianFreud :)
      • BrianFreud
lauri: yeah, when I need to test things, I find it's fater to grab a random release at CD Baby and import it, rather than searching to find random existing release :P
      • *fater/faster
      • pbryan joined the channel
      • zoke
BrianFreud, I don't think your script should import label, because most of the time there is no label
      • ojnkpjg
        or it's wrong
      • pbryan
If a person wrote music & lyrics to a track, must I show composer & lyricist?
      • lauri_
yeah, i have been ripping the label out of most of them
      • pbryan
        Or is composer sufficient?
      • yllona has quit
      • BrianFreud
it's just using the info the artists provided - I leave it to be deleted by the script user, rather than potentially missing label info we easily could have snagged
      • lauri_
pbryan: i do both, in lieu of a 'wrote' AR that we don't have, since that's what most rock tracks are credited as
      • ojnkpjg
        doesn't it only give copyright?
      • zoke
true BrianFreud, however I have realized that I have added really weird labels to MB
      • BrianFreud
        it gives a mishmash
      • pbryan
        thanks lauri_.
      • ojnkpjg
oh, btw, i noticed some weirdness with the script
      • BrianFreud
a lot of the listings I've looked at over there, they do give the C to the label
      • oh?
      • ojnkpjg
if i've used it, then import a toc from a cd i have, there's leftover state
      • and it tries to do things it shouldn't
      • same with adding an AR to a release
      • lauri_
yeah, i have had quite a few pick up the label, but it's few of them
      • ojnkpjg
seems to be leftover state that causes it to automatically do stuff it shouldn't
      • it always fails, so nothing bad gets in, but it's confusing
      • BrianFreud
hmmm, it shouldn't; it kicks the state ahead a few steps to pull that off. Any idea what it's trying to still do?
      • ojnkpjg
let me see if i can make it happen
      • BrianFreud
that was the biggest annoyance with the script; it has so many steps, making sure they all happened, and only in the right order, and that they cleared cleanly if you broke off midway or skipped ahead... *bleh*
      • ojnkpjg
i think maybe what's confusing it is if you only import a TOC
      • i.e., the release is there
      • zoke
BrianFreud, one more suggestion, you should integrate your amazon script to the cdbaby one since 99% of cdbaby pages have the UPC
      • BrianFreud
zoke: I kept anything AZN-related out of the CD Baby script to avoid potentially offending Derek at CD Baby :)
      • aCiD2
So I'm considering linking all of Bleep's releases to MusicBrainz - think it's worth letting Bleep know?
      • And BrianFreud, I'm finally going to succomb to the Greasemonkey-editor revolution and make a script ;)
      • BrianFreud
        :)
      • ojnkpjg
ok, so anytime i try to enter a URL AR now the script makes the browser do something
      • i guess i could run a sniffer and figure out exactly what it tries to post

      • BrianFreud
        ah, ok
      • hmmm, do me one more favor ojnkpjg?
      • ojnkpjg
        ok
      • BrianFreud
        go to your about:config
      • BrianFreud opens FF in the meantime
      • filter by "music"
      • ojnkpjg
        ok
      • around 20 or so entries
      • BrianFreud
        ok
      • sorry, runmning 2 puid batches, system slow
      • aCiD2
      • ojnkpjg
no problem, i'm not in a rush
      • BrianFreud
filter by "CDBabyImportStatus" - what value is it atm?
      • ojnkpjg
two entries, one is 0, one is 7
      • BrianFreud
ah, sounds like you have two versions of the script running at the same time
      • ojnkpjg
yeah, i think i did end up with two at one point, but i deleted one of them
      • BrianFreud
the value, if you just added a toc to an existing, ought to be 4
      • there's no time though it ought to be two dif values at the same time
      • lauri has quit
      • If I were you, I'f go back to the "music" filter and just clear all them, to get rid of any doubled stuff that's leftover from the double-install
      • If you have the auto-ASIN script installed, it will have one value there, the rest should be the CD BAby script, using the "music" filter
      • BrianFreud is afk a few
      • zoke
ojnkpjg, is the need_toc list on numb.org yours ?
      • ojnkpjg
        i made the list, yeah
      • Rondom joined the channel
      • haha, what the hell
      • about:config in ff3 beta 4 warns you "This might void your warranty!"
      • HairMetalAddict
        Don't say you weren't warned. ;-)
      • ojnkpjg
        i didn't know i had any warranty
      • HairMetalAddict
        Not any more, you don't!
      • BrianFreud
        lol
      • ojnkpjg
        i guess i lose
      • HairMetalAddict
Yup. Now you can't return it for a refund, either.
      • Freso
      • :p
      • Freso should really get FF3 one of these days...
      • Aankhen`` has quit
      • BrianFreud
ojnkpjg: since you're running FF3, how well do the various scripts run under GM beta for FF3 beta? Any funky errors?
      • ojnkpjg
        nope
      • i'm mostly using firefox 2 still
      • because it's still set as my default browser
      • but everything still seems to work ok on ff3
      • BrianFreud
good to hear. I've been avoiding FF3 until GM was stable
      • ojnkpjg
it really blows ff2 out of the water in about every way
      • sonium has left the channel
      • lauri_
        hehe
      • tempting to put what yllona wrote on the collab artist style guideline, if i could find such a thing
      • and you know, I can't actually find a guideline anywhere that says "don't duplicate artists that are _exactly_ the same"? Not that I've ever needed one before
      • Rondom has quit
      • zoke
ojnkpjg, since the list is yours do you mind doing a rehash ?
      • BrianFreud
lauri_: prob would be just under panda's favorite non-written guideline "don't overthink the problem"
      • lauri_
well, exactly, that's why i've never needed one before, it's simple common sense
      • BrianFreud
now that, lol, that's a nice clean principle :D
      • ojnkpjg
        zoke, ok
      • zoke
        thanks ojnkpjg
      • do you run a script on a local copy of the database or can the webservice spit this out ?
      • lauri_
Brian: when you have nothing better to do, and run out of script ideas
      • i'd loooooove one for juno.co.uk
      • ojnkpjg
        zoke, local db
      • BrianFreud
        juno still exists?
      • lauri_
they cover all the dance/dj/techno/white label stuff nobody else does
      • BrianFreud
        ah
      • lauri_
and front _and_ back cover scans, so they're a great resource
      • BrianFreud
personally, I'd love one for Naxos, but I'm holding off on that until there's work lists it can tie to
      • lauri_
heh, probably not that juno (the email service one?)
      • BrianFreud
        yeah
      • ojnkpjg
        co.uk :P
      • it is a really great resource
      • lauri_
        yup, awesome
      • in that niche, nobody touches em
      • BrianFreud
let me take a look; prob wouldn't be too difficult to adjust the 8bitpeoples one for them
      • lauri_
and since it's a niche where everyone puts out albums 43 times a year
      • that's quite a big niche :=)
      • ojnkpjg
i think only venetian snares puts out 43 albums a year
      • he's been slowing down, though
      • BrianFreud
      • ojnkpjg
        ocr on the image!
      • lauri_
hmmm, i realise they don't always do the track times
      • yeah! ocr the back covers :)
      • BrianFreud
yeah, would be pretty much a clone of the 8 bit peoples one
      • lauri_
we have faith in you :)
      • and yes, they pop out all releases into a page of their own
      • BrianFreud
hmmm, javascript ocr... start scan, come back next year :P
      • lauri_
i just wish i could figure out who to ask for a cover art deal with them
      • ojnkpjg
i went to an 8bitpeoples INTERNATIONAL CHIPTUNE RESISTANCE show here (boston) a couple of year ago
      • years
      • lauri_
        one trick though brian
      • a lot of this stuff is vinyl, so you get this: http://www.juno.co.uk/ppps/products/306032-01.htm
      • BrianFreud
that wouldn't be too difficult. This, on the other hand, would be: http://www.juno.co.uk/ppps/products/305453-01.htm
