a benefit of EU: frisian is taught better in schools now than when I was in high-school, because of EU laws which protect minority languages, probably some money to protect/stimulate their use involved too.

in norway, alcohol, nicotine and coffeine is legal

lsd, psilocybin, marijuana are illegal

ironically enough, _nobody_ has died from lsd overdose, it's not physically addictive and it's not considered a "hard drug" unlike alcohol

the laws around drugs are based on tradition, not facts

alcohol was accepted in christianity, so it's legal. it's impossible to make it illegal now, given that ~everyone use it

I saw a documentary in college which was arguments for and against making more drugs legal, they said if someone hadn't discovered alcohol until now, there's no way it would be legal

so, what now? it's illogical that alcohol is legal, while softer drugs are illegal. making alcohol illegal won't work.

oh, wait... i once "smuggled" a bottle of tequila from denmark when i was 18 or 19... i'm not sure if it was illegal, you can buy tequila legally in denmark when you're 18 (iirc), and i didn't exceed the tax limit when i brought it to norway, although i'm unsure if it's illegal for someone 18 to possess booze (or if it's only selling booze to someone under 20, or consuming it)
