Well, when I go rollerskating I have my phone with me anyway. It's pretty annoying to skate with pockets full of gadgets.

my phone is huge, so I'd rather just bring my player when working out

But as I said, I have the phone anyway, since I track my speed and distance with GPS, so it makes sense to use it for music as well.

I don't use any phones enough to really care, although mine's a nokia (but but but it's pretty :D)

I disliked nokia phones because they had everything backwards (compared to siemens). that changed a long time ago, but I can't get rid of that feeling :)

Nokia has managed to create some pretty unbelievably crappy software over the years, but I'm not sure others are that much better.

Surely you could buy a cheap adapter from some random Korean site for less than a few quid

I can't even use the headphones that came with it because then I can't hear the bloody music

Yeah, that's the biggest problem for me with using the phone.

Some lousy EU directive forced Nokia to tune down their volume levels, so now you can't hear the music.

did they do that in the headphones then? if I use my own it's much louder

I think so, yeah.

I'm sure there was some firmware hack for iPods to bump the volume back up

escalating memory usage... it hit 1G when i killed it

although.. whatever firefox devel who thought it appropriate to load anything straight into a memory isn't particularly smart either

ff3 is much better about that

and about memory usage in general

you can't really reduce memory usage on 18k px images :)

though when it comes down to it, very few programs will safely handle your huge image

i don't even know what, say, photoshop or the like would do with something like that

i'd assume if anything, photoshop would be prepared for the occasion

opening with gimp.. same effect

goes up to 1.5G memory and thing start getting crazy

if i run kuickshow on it it safely opens it zoomed

photoshop does some smart tricks with hard disk

so it usually can handle very big images

but if i try to zoom to default resolution, well.. barely managed to kill the process :)

yeah, photoshop does some smart swapping on things it's not displaying

anyway i was impressed by kuickshow opening it nicely, less than 1G memeory, and pretty fast too
