At that point I'm pretty stuck though. Can't find anything for what those recordings might be.

apparantly it was recorded by tommy mclennan in 1940 on bluebird, so presumably it must've been before that

The Mclennan recording is 1941 (found that)..still looking for the other one

. o O ( an AR stating a relationship between bands would also be nice, Band A is the successor of Band B or something. )

i couldn't find any evidence of a 1940 Chatmon recording anywhere (by him or his various bands with his brothers)... other sources list the Mclennan version as the original.. maybe we should go with that
