Why did a huge chunk of the page just disappear...

nothing contentious in the sourc

It's not using the proper bullet either.
2009-05-29 14942, 2009
voiceinsideyou
yeah
2009-05-29 14945, 2009
navap
It should be using the blue one that is used on MediaWiki.
2009-05-29 14948, 2009
voiceinsideyou
i'll hack around and see if I can work out what's causing it
2009-05-29 14903, 2009
voiceinsideyou
hmm, i'm making edits, but they;re not actually visible on the /doc page
2009-05-29 14907, 2009
voiceinsideyou
wtf
2009-05-29 14940, 2009
voiceinsideyou
it's non transclusion-indexed, so should be immediately visible right :/
2009-05-29 14919, 2009
navap
No I thik there is an hour wait.
2009-05-29 14939, 2009
navap
You could transclude it, that would make them show up instantly.
2009-05-29 14948, 2009
navap
After updating the index of course.
2009-05-29 14907, 2009
navap
er updating the revision in the table.
2009-05-29 14911, 2009
voiceinsideyou
i didn't think there used to be an hour wait :/
2009-05-29 14922, 2009
navap
There wasn't when it was on test.
2009-05-29 14928, 2009
voiceinsideyou
i mean for Moin
2009-05-29 14951, 2009
navap
I'm not sure, I was under the impression that there was, but I didn't do much editing then.
2009-05-29 14905, 2009
voiceinsideyou
ok, the problem is a bad link...
2009-05-29 14937, 2009
voiceinsideyou
possibly a similar issue to a broken template inclusion breaking the page structure
2009-05-29 14957, 2009
navap
Which bad link?
2009-05-29 14938, 2009
navap
Interesting.
2009-05-29 14941, 2009
navap
That's the first time that I've noticed the page content disappearing.
2009-05-29 14948, 2009
voiceinsideyou
any bad link. i'll make a test page, but if you put a link like [[Yo Momma]] into a section of a page, all of the text prior to the bad link, back to the start of that section gets removed
I've got an Inside Out live bootleg, one track was (accidentally?) split in two (at the time of recording I'm presuming) and called 2. 'Burning', 3. 'Fight'. Should I rename both tracks to 'Burning Fight', or 'Burning Fight, Part 1/2'?
2009-05-29 14901, 2009
navap
So the song itself should be called "Burning Fight"? Perhaps the last option would be best, "Burning Fight, Part 1" and "Burning Fight, Part 2".

I was thinking that, but the wiki specifically states thats to be used for tracks that are part of a series, whereas this is not technically the case..
2009-05-29 14941, 2009
jacobbrett
its not reversable either.. I wouldn't write 'Burning Fight, Parts 1 & 2' if it were the complete song on one track..
2009-05-29 14957, 2009
jacobbrett
sorry, yeah, the track is 'Burning Fight'
2009-05-29 14939, 2009
navap
There are some cases where a track "Foo" is split on some releases into "Foo, Part 1" and "Foo, Part 2", but written as just "Foo" when they're both together.
2009-05-29 14933, 2009
navap
Based on what you've told me, thats what makes sense to me. Maybe someone else can suggest something else.
2009-05-29 14942, 2009
jacobbrett
hmm, fair enough
2009-05-29 14912, 2009
jacobbrett
Well, unless someone else can give me better reasoning I guess I'll go with Part 1/2

I have a question about ASIN's -- One of my edits was voted down because the asin was an import, but that's the only way that amazon has the release. Does that mean that the release shouldn't have an ASIN at all?
2009-05-29 14948, 2009
cyberpear
on amazon.co.uk, it isn't listed as an import, but it has the same ASIN over there -- does that mean I should make the relationship URL be amazon.co.uk instead?
2009-05-29 14913, 2009
Senilix
yes.. use the url to the “closest” amazon shop :)

is there a list of amazon sites, or a way to find out which one it isn't an import at, in general?
2009-05-29 14954, 2009
navap
Just change the TLD from .com to .co.uk or .de etc. And you will be able to see the Amazon page for the other site.

the thing that really bugs me is that my edit was voted down seconds before it expired -- now I have failed edits on my profile; if it'd been voted against sooner, I could have just cancelled it

someone should make a sitewide announcement telling people to stop using discogs... i made an edit and someone said. "discogs doesnt mention this."... seriously... come on http://musicbrainz.org/show/edit/?editid=10693643

'disgocs man'?

I see nothing wrong with his note, he asked for proof and provided one place he had already looked. If you had provided proof at the time you edited the track I doubt he would have objected.

guess im just being silly about the fact that discogs sucks

navap: And if I want to add release from submit discid?
2009-05-29 14922, 2009
navap
hm Good question.
2009-05-29 14935, 2009
pbryan
Answer: You can't.
2009-05-29 14957, 2009
pbryan
You're going to get a new release group every time, then you have to merge.
2009-05-29 14926, 2009
pbryan
And because merge release group requires community moderation, every add-disc for a multi-disc release will require community moderation if added through submit discid.

I agree with diiscogs not to be used as reference [as wikipedia, amazon, etc.] only official site when we don't have scan - other websites if we really don't have nor scan nor official site.
