though I had a question for you... I assume the results are always limited in quantity? ie, this returns a hit count of 230, but nowhere near 230 results: http://silverberg:3001/ws/priv/lookup?entitytype=…

[Global Notice] Hi all, we appear to be having some issues with one of our sponsors currently -- as a result we're temporarily lacking services. Hopefully things will be back to normal shortly. Apologies for the inconvenience and thank you using freenode

Hi all. Services have returned from a backup location, though we're still working on the issue with the sponsor. We should be back to normal in due course. Apologies again, and thanks for using freenode!

Hello.

Pupeno
It seems like Picard is taking forever to get results from MusicBrainz, misses to recognize around 95% of my songs and even those that recognize, it stays forever waiting for the data. Is there some problem at the moment?
2009-05-01 12102, 2009
Muz
There's a problem being reported with MusicDNS' servers that handle the PUID lookups.
2009-05-01 12116, 2009
Muz
You should be able to still do lookups based on existing tags, by clicking "Lookup" instead of Scan though.
2009-05-01 12137, 2009
Pupeno
Muz: But that just points you to the web site, doesn't it?
2009-05-01 12103, 2009
Muz
One of them does. The other lookup button automatically searches and feeds that data to Picard. It's th Lookup button in the top.
2009-05-01 12129, 2009
Pupeno
Muz: Oh, good. Thanks!
2009-05-01 12159, 2009
gnu_andrew
Muz, what's the MusicDNS problem?
2009-05-01 12112, 2009
Muz
Their server is shitted. That'ss as much as I know or care about for that matter. I don't really do PUIDs personally. :)
2009-05-01 12120, 2009
Muz
Eurgh this connection is beyond bearable.

I'm pushing all my music thru picard; will I be able to get improvements in tagging when they happen in MusicBrainz? How is the process?
2009-05-01 12141, 2009
rexroom
depends on the player, but usually the way picard creates an organized directory tree for artists and albums makes it easy for clients
2009-05-01 12142, 2009
Pupeno
rexroom: I'm suing iTunes and letting it handle the directory structure.
2009-05-01 12123, 2009
rexroom
I agree, suing apple for their player is a good idea
2009-05-01 12137, 2009

2009-05-01 12157, 2009

Calling it a player is a bit of a stretch.
2009-05-01 12102, 2009
alastairp
when you press a buton, music comes out?
2009-05-01 12104, 2009
Pupeno
But anyway, I wouldn't expect that directory structure has anything to do with getting tags updated, does it?
2009-05-01 12107, 2009
rexroom
just run picard and drag the music directory to check if there's any updates
