hi all, does anyone know what set of tables contains the 'tag' information for an artist? (i.e. 'indie' 'rock' etc). I have the mbdump on my local db but I see that 'tag' and 'tag_relation' tables are empty
Just playing around a bit with Firebug to try out alternate UIs for the release page, something more compact and less boxy... Came up with this; rough, but kind of shows the idea: http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y48/brianfreud/S…

totally rough, but maybe someone has ideas on how it could be made to look "smoother"
2009-05-04 12456, 2009
voiceinsideyou
which bits do you think are less smooth than they could be? (i'm not sure how the edit relationships stuff would look; or 'use this release in a relationship/relate to' etc)
2009-05-04 12451, 2009
brianfreud
it just still looks a bit too boxy to me with the backgrounds on the bars
2009-05-04 12416, 2009
brianfreud
but if we got rid of the backgrounds, then it just becomes a block of text, and harder to read across
2009-05-04 12401, 2009
brianfreud
It flows better to me than the current boxy style (esp having annotations and ARs inside, not above), but it still doesn't feel like it flows just "right"
2009-05-04 12430, 2009
brianfreud wonders why it's useful to include the "last modification" datestamp for an annotation, when we don't do it for the release itself
2009-05-04 12457, 2009
warp would ask that question the other way around.
2009-05-04 12401, 2009
brianfreud
why we don't include it for the release?
2009-05-04 12429, 2009
brianfreud
maybe I wasn't clear - I was wondering why we show the modification date at all
2009-05-04 12417, 2009
warp
brianfreud: exactly.
2009-05-04 12431, 2009
warp
brianfreud: while I am wondering why we omit it for the release itself :)
2009-05-04 12445, 2009
brianfreud
ah
2009-05-04 12406, 2009
brianfreud
is showing a date for the last "edit of any type" to the release really useful though?
2009-05-04 12434, 2009
warp
brianfreud: i'm not sure. I know it is somewhat useful for the annotation.
2009-05-04 12446, 2009
brianfreud
I'm just wondering why we show the mod date for just that one type of edit - it's not like it's really useful info, and if you really want to know, it's in the history
2009-05-04 12449, 2009
warp
I think it would be for the release itself too.
2009-05-04 12453, 2009
warp
brianfreud: I guess I mainly use it when wondering why some stuff is in the annotation, if I see that the date is before we had catno in the release event, then I know why the catno is in the annotation :)
2009-05-04 12405, 2009
warp
stuff like that.
2009-05-04 12424, 2009
brianfreud
lol, I guess I just assume when I see event info in there, it predates events.
2009-05-04 12446, 2009
warp
anyway. i'm not here. work work work. afk :)
2009-05-04 12419, 2009
brianfreud
now, if every release, label, artist, etc, had well written, complete annotations, then maybe it'd be useful, but otherwise, it seems more like wikipedia putting a datestamp right on the wiki page... somewhat unuseful :)

just one thing to keep in mind with the second link - it was based on an earlier CSGv2 proposal; ignore that it generates text using language-specific types of quotes. Per the latest CSGv2, it should be using standard " " and ' ' quotes.
