For the album data to work both the client's plug in and the the last.fm server needs to be capable of it, and many of the plug-ins lack MBID or album tag support at the moment

That and Russ mentioned how he has had to keep turning the MBID processing on and off due to complications and other such things

I mean last.fm can't even tell a studio and a live version apart if the live version does not have (live) appended because of being on a live album. so why should I care what it does with my album info..

Nep. Album info on last.fm is completely useless without MB integration

The only way you can get your "album charts" are only from the radio streaming itself, otherwise it's just a pretty montage of images

and what MB does to my tags I also not always would call "correct" :)
