        No, no. Bad, bad, bad.
      • And very detrimental to the chances of wooing cute girls ;)
      • Joan_W
generally I find I blush when someone says something nice to me - you are right, I am not prudish or anything like that - I don't blush at risque jokes or whatever - just compliments
      • Nyght
        I disagree!
      • exactly.
      • Joan_W
nice girls like blushes - it tells them that you are not too sure of yourself
      • slaad
Funny thing is, Joan_W, I'm terribly arrogant when it comes to personal ability.
      • Although, less so lately.
      • Nyght
You hold very good company. :) My grandma was the only other person that seemed to have that fine line of .. perfect lady.
      • (and she was also the only other adult to drink a blowjob (it's a drink people) without her hand and in the glasses I had to serve them in! )
      • Joan_W
nothing wrong with that - my mother always used to tell me that if I did not have a good opinion of myself, how could I expect others to have a good opinion of me
      • slaad
I'm hoping you're talking about Joan_W and not me, Nyght ;)
      • Nyght
        at my wedding.
      • slaad, yes most of that was to Joan, sorry. I should've directed it.
      • slaad, I always appreciated a male that could blush without getting all befuddled about it.
      • Joan_W
and my last comment was to slaad
      • slaad
I know, I was just being facetious.
      • Nyght
Totally agreed on the opinions aspect... you should feel good about yourself!
      • Nyght snickers
      • Joan_W
5 minute break - cup of tea and a nice lemon danish that I bought fresh from the bakers this morning
      • Nyght
well then, yes slaad, you are one of those agrandized people...
      • Nyght kicks playfully at slaad
      • slaad grins
      • Nyght tosses a waterballoon too!
      • Nyght giggles having another person to pick on
      • goodie!
      • Joan_W
mind where you are aiming that
      • slaad
        Hah! I'm unpickonable.
      • Joan_W
        don't you believe it slaad
      • Nyght
ah did you get splashed Joan?
      • ;)
      • go get your tea!
      • Joan_W
yes - you should have sent it via the Pacific and not the Atlantic
      • slaad
Oh, sounds like a good time for schnapps + hot choccie.
      • Nyght
        oh yummy
      • though I'd do schnapps hot chocolate and cinnamon coffee (but, I'm picky about that)
      • salad joined the channel
      • slaad has quit
      • MartinRudat looks at 'TooBigToEdit', and wonders if he should try taking a chisel to ClassicalStyleGuideDiscussion, and splitting on topic.
      • MartinRudat
err... 'TooBigToEdit' on WikiWiki, that is.
      • Nyght nods at Martin!
      • Nyght looks like one of those silly dogs in the back of a car she's nodding so enthusiastically
      • ...or would it be more a jack-hammer... =)
      • heh. =)
      • MartinRudat saw an interesting music-video for an otherwise uninteresting song involving one of those nodding dogs in the back of a car.
      • Joan_W
back with my nice hot cup of tea and lemon danish - crumbs in keyboard
      • MartinRudat looks at his keyboard, and wonders if it needs a vacuum or a bath yet... =)
      • I spilt some water on a keyboard at work once - deceased keyboard
      • nikki_
        hi again joan!
      • Joan_W
        hi nikki
      • MartinRudat
I've read you can wash a keyboard, but you've got to be really sure that it's dry before you plug it back in...
      • Joan: did the magic smoke that makes it work leak out?
      • Joan_W
        I don't think I would risk it
      • no - it was very gentle - just died
      • salad hugs his schnapps + milo
      • we had another keyboard in the office so I used that and let the other one dry out. When it was completely dry and you couldn't tell what had happened, I called the IT department and told them it wouldn't work and they never did find out it had an unexpected bath
      • MartinRudat
        heh. =)
      • nikki_
        haha
      • Joan_W
sticky fingers - danish too fresh
      • Nyght
That's true Martin. Let it dry out a day afterwards. (washing trhe keyboard)
      • you can wash anything electronic, as long as there's no charge, and it's thoroughly dry before charge goes through... (also do it with purified water if you can.)
      • Muz
I wash my hardware with a rag on a stick
      • Joan_W
because there might be metal particles in ordinary tap water?
      • Muz
Joan tap water is full of all sorts of crap, especially in hard water areas
      • Joan_W
        hi muz
      • Muz
        Hey
      • nikki_
scunthorpe has lovely hard water :)
      • Muz
        So does Suffolk
      • Nyght
I'm not sure, I think it's the mineral deposits to avoid in regular water.. though I've done it Joan.
      • Joan_W
        so has barnsley
      • Nyght
We used to do it all the time at the loan shop with a steamer they used to clean jewelry, man I wish I had that machine.
      • It was a jet propulsion hot steam and it really got things clean!
      • salad
        Yeah, minerals.
      • nikki_
        ...salad?
      • Joan_W
Skipton, where I lived before had extremely soft water
      • MartinRudat likes de-greasing oil for cleaning stuff, though it might not be a good thing to use it on easily damaged stuff, like paint... =)
      • salad
[22:14] <Nyght> I'm not sure, I think it's the mineral deposits to avoid in regular water.. though I've done it Joan.
      • Nyght
But.. yeah, It's not a "myth" and I've done it to many things.. never never never a monitor though, it holds a charge. (at least the old CRT's)
      • salad
Oh, wait, you mean the nick.
      • It's my normal-nick-is-used nick
      • nikki_
        yes
      • do you really want me to read it as salad now? :P
      • salad
        I'm surprised you didn't already :)
      • MartinRudat
        /nickserv ghost slaad password_goes_here?
      • Joan_W
eeek - henry is trying to get my danish
      • Nyght
Ah, I didn't notice it changed. So used to using slaad... :s
      • LOL
      • as if he needs your danish!
      • salad
No need, I'm just too lazy to /nick back, MartinRudat.
      • Nyght
he's just trying to save you the crumbs and weight. :D
      • MartinRudat
        slaad: heh. =)
      • Joan_W
he think he ought to be offered it to see if he likes it
      • Nyght
and of course he will, if he's anything like Logan
      • just be careful to get that slash there at the beginning. :)
      • Joan_W
decided he doesn't like it and gone to look out of the window
      • nikki_
        awww kitties
      • Nyght
well you're lucky, Logan likes everything I am eating, pretzels are his favorite
      • Joan_W
nikki - henry is the feline equivalent of a garbage disposal unit
      • Nyght
        weirdos all of em
      • :)
      • salad wants a kitty.
      • Muz
      • MartinRudat thought that it was dogs that were walking, drooling, garbage disposal units... =)
      • Nyght wants two more kitties
      • salad chuckles at Muz's URL
      • Joan_W
awww muz - cats always find the shady spots
      • nikki_
you don't know the right cats
      • Nyght
        trusting kitty!
      • Joan_W
I know you want them beth but you can't - you might be adopting a dog
      • Muz
There's a cat like that that likes to peruse my street at night when I come home at god knows what hour drunk
      • I always stop to pet it :)
      • salad
I remember a childhood friend's cat would sleep under out bonnet when I visited.
      • Not sure how it got in there.
      • MartinRudat
...gee, that engine's purring nicely. =)
      • Nyght
reminds me of when I would drive, and stop at the stop sign, my kitty (who was hanging out on the car and I didn't notice) would come and paw at the window and say "let me in" to join me wherever I was going.
      • Joan_W
martin - you are getting as bad as shep
      • salad
        Haha
      • Nyght
Joan, the owner came and got the doggy. :) (sorta saddish, it was nice to have a doggy again for a little while)
      • MartinRudat wonders if he should be taking this as a compliment or not. =)
      • Joan_W
well, at least you know it wasn't abandoned
      • how did the boys take it
      • Nyght
That always scared me, cats in the bonnet of a car.... I know one that got got that way. :(
      • The boys I think took it better than I did.. and yeah, I was glad that they came and got it. The doggy missed it's people.
      • His name was Koda.
      • salad
Do FedEx deliver on a Sunday?
      • MartinRudat tries to remember where he came across 'break out in cats', or something like that...
      • Joan_W
a new response on mb-style from daydreamer
      • salad
        (In Australia, specifically?)
      • Nyght
        slaad, I believe so.
      • they even deliver on sundays if you pay them enough
      • salad
        ... Isn't that what I asked? :)
      • Nyght
        Yay!
      • ugh, I translated it to Saturday
      • salad
        Well, it'd be your saturday.
      • Nyght
don't ask me why, probably cause I haven't slept yet. :D
      • be back in a few.. breakfast time.
      • Nyght is now known as NyghtMARE
      • MartinRudat wonders if anyone looks through CandidateForDeletion, or if people will get a shock when they see the list has quadrupled in size...
      • Joan_W
        ? where martin
      • MartinRudat
      • MartinRudat has been adding 'CandidateForDeletion' to lots of things.
      • Joan_W
If there are that many pages for possible deletion, there must be as many that are okay. Hardly user friendly
      • MartinRudat
I think that there's something on the order of 1600 pages on the wiki.
      • pae has quit
      • Joan_W
how in god's name do they expect a new user to read through that lot and, at the end of it all, to what purpose.
      • all a new user has to know are the basic of correct editing - maybe a bit over simplistic - but they are just not interested in reams and reams of instructions
      • MartinRudat
well, some of it is summaries of what's been discussed on the mailing lists, some of it is documentation linked/copied to by the server.
      • Joan_W
but - is there an index to guide you around or do you have to be intuitive and try to guess the name of a wiki page
      • MartinRudat
...there's quite a few pages of discussion about what needs to be done to the wiki, plans for the software, user pages, ...
      • there are quite a few indexes, I'm not really sure how useful they all are, though.
