      • Nyght
yeah well, this one didn't.. but, I figured it was close, and it meshed with another source.. so, I used them.

Shepard: you should have an official bio
      • 2006-05-28 14810, 2006

      • yalaforge
this one is at least 2 years old -> http://musicbrainz.org/bio.html
      • 2006-05-28 14826, 2006

      • Shepard
        I should?
      • 2006-05-28 14832, 2006

      • yalaforge nods. he should also write java bindings for the web service
      • 2006-05-28 14846, 2006

      • Shepard
        I should?
      • 2006-05-28 14800, 2006

      • yalaforge
        yup
      • 2006-05-28 14810, 2006

      • Shepard doesn't like people telling me what I should do
      • 2006-05-28 14820, 2006

      • wolfsong13
        then don't
      • 2006-05-28 14823, 2006

      • Shepard
this is an open source project after all :)
      • 2006-05-28 14858, 2006

      • Shepard
wolfsong13: that was not in your direction, I'm just wondering why I should have an official bio
      • 2006-05-28 14859, 2006

      • yalaforge
actually, the MB community always tried to tell developers what to do
      • 2006-05-28 14810, 2006

      • yalaforge
djce knows that better than anyone, I guess :-)
      • 2006-05-28 14828, 2006

      • djce
Yeah, but now I just deny everything.

        LOL
      • 2006-05-28 14837, 2006

      • Shepard
yalaforge: yes but I belong to the people telling developers what to do and not to the developers :)
      • 2006-05-28 14843, 2006

In fact I mailed him a week or two ago, and haven't heard back.

the one and only mail from johan I read was on mb-users, right after I joined. that was ca 3 years ago
      • 2006-05-28 14801, 2006

      • wolfsong13 took too long so his got written for him :-)

      • 2006-05-28 14852, 2006

      • djce
Can someone answer me a really simple wiki question?
      • 2006-05-28 14804, 2006

      • djce
Namely: what is the current status of "wikidocs"?
      • 2006-05-28 14809, 2006

      • Shepard
        no meta-questions :)
      • 2006-05-28 14814, 2006

      • djce
There is a separate wiki, wikidocs.mb.org IIRC.
      • 2006-05-28 14817, 2006

      • djce
        Is that used?
      • 2006-05-28 14842, 2006

      • djce
And is it planned to be used in the future?
      • 2006-05-28 14842, 2006

      • wolfsong13
        a what?
      • 2006-05-28 14846, 2006

djce: no, wikidocs is version 1.0 of the idea
      • 2006-05-28 14827, 2006

      • keschte
wikidocs 2.0 uses the main wiki, and revisions of pages which are transcluded
      • 2006-05-28 14845, 2006

      • djce
ok. so the live web we currently have uses 1.0, namely wikidocs.mb.org, yes?
      • 2006-05-28 14856, 2006

      • keschte
yes. but only a few pages
      • 2006-05-28 14802, 2006

      • keschte
all which use /wd/ in fact
      • 2006-05-28 14806, 2006

      • djce
but in the future it will switch to wiki.mb.org, and wikidocs.mb.org will be redundant, yes?
      • 2006-05-28 14824, 2006

      • keschte
but the content had to be manually copied over to the wikidocs server, which was then decided to be stupid.
      • 2006-05-28 14828, 2006

no. all main performers are credited as the artists for a track/release. if there are more than one person or a band, then create a collaboration. all secondary artists are credited with (feat. ...) in the track/release title and with an AR to it

so if it says "person A with person B" then person B is likely to be a secondary performer and feat. should be used (there are exceptions). if it says "person A & person B" and you cannot say one of them is the primary performer, then create a collaboration

oh, under certain circumstances group->group can also be correct for collaborations, when bands collaborated with other bands or persons

i don't think collab is correct for Parliament/Funkdadelic, as 90% of the personnel is teh same in both bands
